Do you think it is necessary to take coaching for the SAT (like Kaplan...)?? I have asked many of my friends who have done coaching. Some say that coaching is necessary...Others say that coaching just gives you some more resources but you basically fool around in class which isn't really worth the money...
What do you think is a good idea?? Self study or coaching?
I will be writing the SAT for the first time on May 3rd, 2008... And I really want to do well on it..!!
If coaching isn't necessary, how many hours of sincere preperation should be done everyday in order to get between 2100-2400?

Between 2100-2400 is a humongous range! I think it's better to have a more accurate goal in mind.

I'm aiming for atleast a 2200...

You'll find a lot of opinions on this thread

Coaching is not worth it, bcuz the books out there pretty much teach the same thing. The only thing it would benefit are for those who are lazy and need that motivation to study.

With all due respect, the $1000 Kaplan course is almost the same as them reading out of their book without telling you about it. It's not worth it, though it can still increase your score; however, that's if you aren't a good student. If you put the effort to make an account on a SAT forum, you're already determined. Reading strategies, using them on practice tests(changing the way you take tests), anaylzing your mistakes and realizing how to fix them for future tests is the best way; only you can truly know what you mistakes are and your flaws. If you discover it yourself, then you'll do better than someone telling you.
