I scored a 1290 out of 1600 on the sats and 29 on the ACT.
I have a gpa of 89.2 but it should get better this year since im working harder.
My senior year schedule consists of a regents level physics, ap economics, ap government and politics, college statistics, college business administration and managment, ap literature and spanish 5 honors college.

do you think i have a chance of getting into binghamton?
do i have a chance to get into binghamtons management school?

also, my sister graduated from binghamton recently, will that help?(she was in the management school)
thanksss

I would say you have a strong strong chance...especially if you go early action...binghamton is rolling admissions so spots fill as the days go..get your app in early and you should have a good shot..your SAT is on the average...gpa a little low...legacy helps...i woudl say strong chance...i was a senior '08...applied to the management school with a 95 gpa, 1240 sat, 29 act and i was waitlisted...i applied after the january 15 deadlien though...so i proabbaly screwed myself....the management school is a tougher admission than arts and science but you have strogn stats void the gpa...i probably would have gotten in had i even applied before the deadline much less an early action...i had all ap's senior year (4) and some junior year (2)...so i was virtually the same type of students resume you have but with a higher gpa...i would say you have a very decent chance...if i could do everythign wrong in applying and still get waitlisted at SOM, you should get in doign everythign right.

look at some of the threads posted here in april where applicants (both accepted and rejected) posted their stats.

how much do you really think you can raise your gpa in one or two semesters? and if you wait for two semesters worth of grades, you may miss the early application date.

binghamton is getting increasingly difficult to get into each year. this year's entering class had over a 93 average (i started a thread a few days ago with links to admissions stats info). the school of management is one of the more selective schools at binghamton.

do you have a change of getting in? of course. but be realistic and have other choices where you would be happy.

...I think Binghamton is a target for you, even with the SOM. Your stats are better than the schools averages except for the gpa...and whats that, 4 points?...you beat the avg act 27-29 and you have a higher avg SAT 1280-1290...even the SOM only has an avg SAT of 1300...your right there...and you have a strong senior schedule...it's a target and not a reach..i mean, I thought it was a target for me and i was waitlisted, but i also applied weeks after the deadline...and on my waitlist decision i was left with an application preference of 1...so you can see my stats and profile are what should get you in...you're right there...binghamton might get increasingly difficult to get into, but it's not a UVa, or UNC tough...and 1990, class of '08, had the highest birth tally since the 50's thus more applicants and tougher chances...the birth toll shrinks after 90...i think you have a strong chance, apply early..even if you go early action you are deferred at the worst and then you submit better grades

I think that SOM may be a bit of a reach for you honestly. While your GPA can still go up this year, I cannot imagine it increasing your cumulative GPA that high. You may end up getting into Harpur and then could transfer to the SOM later... but your GPA is going to hurt your chances. I would say it's a good target/reach, but definitely not a safety.

It's not a reach...this isn't wharton, lets be real..his stats are right on par except for a 4 point to low gpa..if you have the intangibles..write a good essay and ****...i'd say it's a fair target

i really think you are minimizing "4 points" on the gpa -- there is a significant difference between an 89 and a 93 average. pretending there isn't doesn't do the op any favor. binghamton's admission average did not get to be a "93" by them treating an 89 and a 93 as essentially the same.

agreed..it would be an avg of 89 if they took 89's...but lets not assume they only take 93's...im sure many, many students walk into Bing with a 97,98 average...my schools vaedictorian entered with a 102..thereby meaning they do take 89's...if he has a very strong resume and the only blemish, as it appears, is the 89 gpa..then its safe to say binghamton SOM isnt a reach but a target.
