I'm sure all of you fantasized about what you wanted to be when you "grow up," but now that you're finally getting a chance to really evaluate your potential career path, what do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be somewhere in the financial services sector, whether it be investment banking, asset management, financial consultant, etc., I like having the power that managing money brings (which can be good or bad). This is drastically different from my dreams of a professional baseball player, but I've learned a lot since 1st grade! :)

the editor in chief of a magazine, or a tv news editor...actually any job in the media would be nice. but i really want to be a magazine editor. 6 years on the yearbook staff has rubbed off on me i guess :p

I've probably been asked that question a thousand times (exaggerating) from family and friends over the past year or so (that and where I'm going to college next year which I always have to leave unanswered since I don't know yet).

I used to want to be a vet, but I kind of realized that that fantasy was pretty unrealistic for me. I would be able to do the work. However, I have a huge vision disability which really wouldn't be a strong suit if I went into any type of medicine, and I really don't want to be the one having to euthanize the animals (even though I think it's needed when they're terminally ill).

I currently think it would be neat to be able to go into something like computer graphics or animation. I like making things look different ways as well as creating new ways to view things. I'd like to try that out in college (since I really didn't have the time to get enough exposure to it in order to see whether or not I really liked it in high school). However, if that turns out to not be my area, I also like working with the English language, and I think it would be cool to be able to work in administration for a university or something in the future. Maybe I could be the one writing the little viewbooks for prospective students in the future. Ha!

Not EVERYONE is miserable in investment banking. I, for one, love doing financial work and it would suit me quite well. Of course I wouldn't like the 100 hour work weeks, getting yelled at by an associate, or sitting around during the day doing nothing only to get handed a report at 8 at night and be up till 3 in the morning. However, I don't think ANYONE would enjoy those aspects; you have to thoroughly enjoy finance and challenging work to offset them.

I want a job where I can live comfortably in Manhattan and retire early... so I'm thinking finance? I'd love to be a magazine editor like Jennifer Garner in 13 Going on 30 too.. that would be really fun. Or a senator... one of the three
