^Yep, a few schools offer that. I’ve heard of it too- I’m a music major (but in Performance, not Church Music).

I’m computer science.
Both of my parents are doctors and I’m actually the first in my extended family not going to medical school. Needless to say, my parents didn’t take it well.
My mom’s slowly coming around. But she insists I take the MCAT and med school prereqs just in case.

I’m computer engineering and I don’t think my parents even really understand what it is.

I just asked my mom what’s my major her exact words were " heck if I know just don’t be poor" I told her plenty of times I’m a Poli sci and history major… She now thinks I’m going to be a snobby / nerdy politician

My parents support my major completely. They would support any major I choose. They just want me to be happy with the career I choose.

My mom really doesn’t care because she’s not footing any of the bill for my education. Psychology with a pre-med intention.

Don’t feel bad, I’m pretty sure my parents have no idea what I actually do at college.

Like a lot of students, my dad would have liked me to go into the medical field. I’m pretty sure my mom is just happy that I went to college.

I wonder what parents who pressured their children to major in biology for pre-med purposes (even though majoring in biology is not required to do pre-med) end up thinking if their children did not get admitted to any medical school, leaving them with poor job and career prospects (low paying lab technician jobs in competition with all of the other failed pre-med biology majors).

My major: Industrial Design/Human Factors Engineering (i myself love it very much)
Dad- very supportive, he’s happy as long as it’s something engineering-related and can get me enough ca$h to sustain the lifestyle that he’s provided me (and spoiled me) with so far.
Mom- pretty sure has no idea what the major actually is; she assumes it’s all concept sketches for cars/products, thinks it will not get me anywhere and she’s worried that she’ll have to tell her neighbors/relatives that her son is studying how to draw things while they brag about their Stanford med-school daughters. also keeps trying to talk me into going to pre-med. so i keep telling her “if anyone asks, just say engineering. it’ll be fine”.

applied economics and management/cog psychology. pretty sure parents dont know what either are and asked me a few days ago how I was planning to pay for med school when I went off that track 2 years ago…so…

I find it kind of sad that a few people on here have said their parents don’t know what they’re majoring in! ):

Majoring in Nutrition. All my parents have to say is, “That’s good.” My uncle’s reaction: “I don’t get it. What kind of job can you get with that…”
After talking to my mom about some of my friends’ intended majors though, I have realized she doesn’t like Psychology, because she doesn’t like psychiatrists.

Your parents think both a physics AND math major is useless? Not to be rude, but do they even know what job prospects there are for both of those majors and exactly how much they make? Entry level physicists make more than $50K/year, haha.

By the way, the “intelligent” business kids are the ones that lack a good sense of humor. I’ve been around the business type before. I never want to again…

Physics/astronomy major, music/math minor.

Mom - “Do whatever you want, honey.”

Dad - “NERDS 4 LIFE!!!” xD
