You know, I should have posted this sooner.

Some excerpts from a favorite song. Feel free to try and guess the title, singer, and album (Let's see how many were paying attention ;) ), but it's the WORDS that count:

*I used to dream about how it would be.
When I would be older; when I'd really be free.
When no one would tell me how to live my life.
How to waste my days, how to spend my nights.
But I finally decided. Yes, I finally decided.
They're finding out the hard way exactly what I want to say.

They tell me I'm young and that I don't know
The right thing to do, the right way to go.
They're so afraid I'm gonna let them down.
I'm gonna mess things up when I mess around.
But I finally decided. I finally decided.
It's my responsibility.
I don't need nobody, don't need no one,
Don't need nobody.
I don't need anyone but me.

Can't you see I'm changing?
My smile is rearranging!
I'm thinking for myself!
You can't ignore me anymore!

And now I believe I have finally arrived.
I'm young and alive! I'm in my prime!
No one can stop me 'cause I'm on my way!
Gonna do what I do! Gonna have my say!*

Impossible to listen to just once or with the volume down, BTW. :D

My friends, teachers, coaches and whatnot knew for a long time I wanted to join the military and attend a service academy, so when they found out I finally got accepted (West Point and Navy Prep, but hoping to get into USNA directly with the addition of my January 2007 SAT score) they were really happy for me. Some of my friends didn't really support my decision because of the whole war thing. But generally speaking, everyone I know has told me to "take care of myself out there"

Oh and yes, my parents do differ on where I should go- my mom favors army and my dad favors navy (neither were in the military). Yes I know it's my decision, and as of right now, I haven't made it yet. To give a hint to what I'm leaning towards, we'll see how navy responds to those new SAT scores =)

Forget the Navy, good luck getting an appointment to USMA!! Have you been fully qualified? I was born in Douglasville, I think thats East Metro, but then again metro Atlanta is like a fifth of the state :P

Okay, well, I've been DELUGED with IM's asking about the song. (Well, I received two or three, but I live in Jersey now, so blame it on the chemicals in the water table.) ;)

The only problem I have with that website is its description of the movie as a "hit". It's more of a cheezy "cult classic", but still enjoyable because the enemy gets his but kicked (including the sewage treatment plant), and the USAF is made to look the bumbling bus drivers they are. :D

Down at the bottom is a link to the song. Enjoy! I did!

In fact, I'm going to pop it in (again) right now! :D

First off, must say that I am favor Navy a bit more than Army, but I would be honored to attend either school and serve in either branch. (With that said, GO NAVY!);)

To answer your question, I guess I am fully qualified. Nothing to indicate that, other than my admissions representative told me my file status is "admissible." I am medically qualified, and I feel confident that both academics and physical are qualified as well. Still waiting to hear for sure, though.

Who did you get your nom. from? Mine were from Congressman Charlie Norwood.
