what does cornell look at the most ?

<p>i know there is no particular answer in college admissions but ..can any of the cornellians answer me what cornell look at the most?
my GPA is not good at all.. i had uw 4.0 w 4.21 for my sophomore year and 3.57 w 4.03for my junior year so i am trying to cover the ****ty GPA with high SAT score..but i think i heard that cornell doenst really look at SAT as much as they look at GPA ..
please help me out! i love cornell!</p>

<p>Fit. The why Cornell essay trumps the rest of the application. Granted, if your scores aren’t up to par, then it’s gonna be really hard, but if you’ve challenged yourself in school, worked hard (both in and outside of school), and can show that Cornell is the place for you, then that essay can make up for a weaker part in your application.</p>

<p>I personally think they do it so that they can see which kids are using it just as their safety Ivy (even though it’s not a safety, it’s not as hard to get into as HYP, etc.). They want kids that want to be at Cornell, not kids who wanted to go to an Ivy league school, and don’t care which one, just for the prestige.</p>
