What does it mean 1 year of x course with lab??

So I was looking at med school requirements, and most of them say something like:

Required: 1 year of <science course=""> with lab.
Normally a course is one semester, say physics. So does this mean taking two course in that science course and their applicable labs? Say I could take two courses like Mechanics and Waves, and then Optics and Electromagnetism, and applicable labs and that is one year o that science course?</science>

Also does the same thing apply to math? Such as Calc 1 and Calc 2, is that 1 year of calc?

you are correct

Hmm, okay then, thank you. It just got a bit confusing. But say I have two physics courses, and then only 1 has lab, is my lab equipment still done?

P.S. What is a tutorial in college. Like i’m lookng and same courses say, 3 hour class, 1 hour tutorial.

BUMP, can anyone answer my second post??

Depends on the courses. If it is a two course sequence such as intro physics 1 and intro physics 2 then your school may have some way of having the lab count as a full year because almost every school has a year long lab to accompany the year long intro physics sequence (maybe the lab is one class that runs the whole year?). If the two classes are not in a sequence, then you need another semester of lab which probably means another semester of class.

Tutorial is most likely what my school called “section” which was a session run by a TA to review the material for the week or go over the homework or supplement the lectures in some way. They will usually be much smaller sessions (e.g. I took one class where the lecture was ~100-150 people but the sections were 10-15 people.)
