Has there been any bashing on this thread?

Seriously, I loved Harvard and Yale. I guess because they weren’t my top choice that means I’m bashing.

Since the topic about bashing was brought up, I am just curious: Is the following message posted recently on the “Best PreMed Programs” considered as a bashing in your opinion? (especially the parts about “300 or so end up going to medical school” and “a ridiculous number matriculating at top 10.”)

To me, the tone of this post made this like a bashing. How do you think about it? (curm’s “mo betta good” analysis after this post made it very funny though.)

Post #464 http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/pre-med-topics/19444-best-premed-programs-31.html

Nah I think that he or she was just being sarcastic, saying that Stanford is a poor choice because so many students end up at those nasty top 10 schools.

How about GPA of 4.0 in a guaranteed med program, MCAT in the really high 30s, research with own project, published under own name, national scholarship, summer clinical internship, double major and triple minor, study abroad, ECs, medical service in Africa and Peru (not through a program but at local Pediatric hospitals). Does the student have a shot at HMS?

A shot? Sure. This kid sounds like a 50/50 shot if I had to guess. Depends on essays and interviews.

Guess 50/50 is better than no shot at all thanks.

50/50 is better than one could hope. Bottom line, nothing you can do can ensure that HMS accepts you. You do your best.

Then why “settle” for Harvard when you can go to Hopkins? :D

Unless you have been studying for the mcat since your days in the womb, you’ll never become a doctor.

y’all need to try and be a little nicer on this site. lol. not sure I’d want an a-hole for a doctor…

FL Student, sometimes people get cynical about admissions. The OP asked a dumb question. (Yes, it was a dumb question.) S/he got a fitting answer. Shooting for med school in general is like shooting for HYPS. Planning your UG career around attending “a top med school” is like planning your college career around “planning” to be the 50th President of the United States (or on his Cabinet of you fail).

I’d want House as my doctor.

actually if you want to become a doctor (practicing doctor- who sees patients everyday)
the best med school for you is university of washington and harvard is number 15 on the list.
[Primary Care Rankings - Best Medical Schools - Graduate Schools - Education - US News and World Report](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-medical-schools/primary-care-rankings)

^^So only primary care physicians see patients every day?? How about cardiologists, surgeons etc.??

You do realize that those rankings are heavily biased towards the NUMBER of primary care docs that are pumped out, not their quality, right? The reason why MSU DO is ranked 7 has much more to do with the sheer number of primary care docs rather than their evaluation as a school.

Okay w.e isnt this supposed to be a discussion board thing? so why are we talking about being a-holes? I’m only fourteen but i think i can keep on track on a topic convorsation and you people cant give me any solid research or ideas to put you in my Research paper that is due in two days and you are going off about being a-holes? really? seriously?

So wait, you’re using a forum as a resource for your paper? Where do you go to school?

LOL apumic, he is only 14 and chastising the pre-med board. Gotta love the ■■■■■■■!

Perhaps this was the wrong page?
