...blah blah
but when i check online, it doesnt say anything and when i called them, they said theyve sent a letter. Does this mean im in?has anyone else got this?

just got the same e-mail, although i got my acceptance last week. Ur in, something may have happened with ur letter in the mail tho. congrats!!!!!!!!!!

well i wouldn't say emails its decisions. They assumed you received your decision letter. (ie. i received my acceptance last monday (24th) but got the email today)

hey jimminy...im from india too...i too got that email...my app was completed around 1/19....that was real quick huh???...what did u apply for??

jimminy, if you can't figure out that is an acceptance letter yourself, I don't think you are ready for college, yet. do you now know "Congratulations on your admission to the University of Michigan" mean?

cantwaittogotocollege-
my app was complete less than two weeks ago, which is why i was questioning the authenticity of the email.
thank you for your less than valuable input however.

Batch processing.... maybe, you all came under the same batch..... so, it doesn't matter whether your app was complete 2 weeks ago or 6 weeks....

Jimminy,
You live in India, right? It's possible that your admission letter is still on route. It takes 7-10 days by priority air.

It's indeed a bit unusual to get a turn around in less than 2 weeks. However, I've seen it happened before. Last year, a student here sent in her application on the last day; and received her admission letter on Feb 26th. She had a hard time believing it too. May be it's like ravi said, you just got in the tail end of the batch...

If you are still unsure, I'd suggest you call admissions and ask them to clarify it. Tell them you received the congratulation e-mail...

What is the name of the person who sent out the e-mail?

p.s. Mishra, Int'l applications don't get processed any faster. There may be fewer Int'l applications, but only one team of adcoms.

Oops, I was gonna suggest that you e-mail the person for clarification. But this looks like a generic account, not just for the Int'l admissions team. I suppose the best way is to call the admissions office...if you don't want to wait for your letter.

Congrats and welcome to the Michigan family.

GoBlue:
I get your point but don't you think that there might be admissions staff specifically for Asia region who are aware of the educational system over here? I have read about people who said that they got their decisions in 2 months but 2 of us here have got their decisions in say 2 weeks and what a co-incidence we are intl students and from INDIA !!!

mishra,
There is only one team of adcoms who handles all Int'l applications. They are very experienced, and familiar with most of the education systems in areas with the main feeder schools. The student I mentioned in my previous post was also from Asia. She also got her reply in a little over 2 weeks. It's rare but not impossible.
