I just noticed a few updates on the Transfer Students page... and here it is:
"Required:

For transfer students with 30 credit hours or less:

Biology 1 & 2 with labs
Academic writing 1& 2 or writing and public speaking
Statistics
Sociology
For transfer students with 30-60 credit hours:

Biology 1 & 2 with labs
Academic writing 1 & 2 or writing and public speaking
Statistics
Sociology
Either chemistry 1 or physics 1
Recommended: Courses that meet the CALS social science and humanities requirements "

How do I know the amount of hours I will have? Before it was just listed courses we should take, but can anyone tell me where I would PROBABLY fall in? I will be transferring after spending my freshman year in another university. So will I probably fall under 30 credit hours or less or MORE than 30-60 hours?

I had everything planned out before...because they had courses that were required, but now they have added on these credit hour things...so I don't know how to work it all out =/

Please help and thanks

Umm...if you have less than 30 credits, you must have the first list....if you have more...you must have the second...to apply.

..lol.

This really depends on your final freshman year schedule. Most people I knew who came in as sophomores had more than 30 credits. Students who entered as pre-meds usually completed Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, Statistics and freshman English at their first college.

But...if you have your schedule set and are taking what CALS requires of transfer applicants you've got nothing to worry about.

When I spoke to CALS, the first thing that they asked me was if I had taken chem because chem is a pre-req for most science classes. So just as a note, ensure that you take chem so that you can take upper division bios like biochem.

I will be going into the Agricultural Sciences major, or the Development Sociology major.

For Agricultural Sciences, they say this:

"For transfers with 30 credit hours or less:
Biology 1 & 2 with labs
Academic writing 1 & 2 or writing and public speaking
Statistics "

Can anyone ESTIMATE how many credits that will probably run me? If I take the classes they listed above, can anyone give me an estimate on how many I will probably have?

Dewdrop- Hmm, did you mean that students take those classes during their freshman year? Because taking Stats and Calculus the same year sounds weird to me =/

Bio I and Lab: 4 credits
Bio II and Lab: 4 credits
Academic Writing 1: 3 Credits
Academic Writing 2: 3 credits
Statistics: 4 credits at my school, I've seen it for 3 though.

Total: 17 or 18. So you'll need to take others of course, but not get above 30. Take some other college pre-reqs, suc has the required humanities courses - they like when you have a head start on the pre-reqs.

Hope that's what you meant personin

You know...I think this applies to people who already have college credit..not freshman.

For instance, if at the time of application you already have 30 credits..you need to have completed the coursework listed. As a freshman...you will have less than 30 credits.

Hmmm, how many credit hours does the typical freshman take, like how much is normal? I went here and saw that most have like 30 or something: How many credit hours did you take during your freshman year? - Yahoo! Answers

blazinyan300- Thanks for the advice on the chem course, I will see if I go over 30 credit hours, and then decide on that.

soccer_guy472- Yeah, thanks for the heads up on taking a humanities course, hopefully that won't make me go over 30 credit hours if you take into account the other classes I will be taking.

Basically I'm just afraid that I might go over 30 credit hours during my freshman year... and then I have to be considered for someone who has "30 credit hours or more", which means I'm REQUIRED to take so many more courses... I just wanted to know how many credit hours I can expect to get during my freshman year and how much most freshman get.

You will not have 30 credits at the time of your application. You will commence your application during the first semester of your freshman year...you will have zero or very little credit (if you have AP credit or took college courses in HS).

Oh wow lol, I didn't even realize or think about that Dewdrop, I'm out of it today :P. Just to make sure, I'll ask to see if that credit policy applies towards the time we actually fill out the application, or by the end of our freshman year.

Like are they asking if we have 30 credits as we are filling out the application, or if we wil have 30 credits by the end of freshman year? Probably will ask tomorrow, but I didn't even realize the thing you posted about lol, I definitely won't have 30 credits in just a semester.

That also brings up another quick thing though:
"Students considering transfer are required to complete a two semester general introductory biology sequence i.e. Biology 1 and Biology 2 with hands on labs prior to transfer"

So as I'm filling out the application, I will probably be almost done with Bio 1, but won't have even started Bio 2 YET. I'm guessing I could still apply seeing how I will be taking Bio 2 eventaully a bit after I fill out the application right?

They mean "will you have 30 credits or less as you fill out the application"

And..as long as you are in the process of completing Bio 1/2 you're golden.

Admissions will clarify this for you...
