Hi!
I’m wondering what part of an application UT looks at when deciding if you get into the first major of your choice. I have auto-admit, but since I want to major in biomedical engineering (which is pretty competitive), I’m interested in what specifically they look for. Is it just extracurriculars pertaining to the field of interest? The essay prompts?
Thank you for any advice!

I’m no expert, but my understanding is that they look at everything when it comes to major selection. For something like biomedical engineering, they’ll definitely want to see high test scores (hopefully you submitted), rigorous coursework (BC Calculus a plus for example rather than AB), and then also something on your resume and in your essays that says why it is fit for you.
