slipper1234, Thanks for the suggestion about Dartmouth. Actually, I have looked at it, and to be honest, it really just wasn't for me. I know that sounds strange since it is very much like many of the schools on my list, but something about it just didn't click with me. But thanks anyway ;)

Mostly because she hasn't seen any that she feels it would be worth applying to. She also doesn't see the point in applying to someplace where she has NO chance of being accepted. She liked Davidson...but it is just too big a leap with those SAT scores, don't you think?? At this point, she is perfectly happy with her list, and really hopes to be at either Santa Clara University (#1 choice) or U of San Diego (she's hoping those aren't reaches!!).

My D so far (GPA 3.96, ACT all 35's,yadayada) (far too top heavy in my opinion);

Quilt, I dont see how you can miss Brown on that list. As I mentioned to koala, I am sure you have your reasons but sometimes people have many misconceptions before days on campus. Koala should absolutely apply to Dartmouth and your D should apply to Brown. Reserve judgement till after you get in. You might see a very different picture than even your college visit.

I would have given anything to be able to apply to some of the schools I ruled out for absolutely no rational reason my senior year. I ended up transferring to one of those schools.

Hi slipper, my D explored Brown (her best friend will be attending this fall). Unfortunately, it is not strong in both of the 2 very diverse "concentrations" she is planning...physics and vocal performance. Brown has a good music/ethnic and composition program, but not vocal performance.

Those are great reasons.
