yes it was

Just called the admission office and the admission counselor told me that they have yet to act on all the applications sent in by the scholarship deadline.

Therefore, those who still have their status stuck on the "being reviewed" phase, but who have not had a request asking for midyear grades, should just be patient and wait for the committee to act on their applications. Hope this helps.

This actually belongs over on the scholarship thread, but in the interest of answering garyslick: Here's something we just recently learned, but everybody else here may already know: there are TWO Town & Gowns. The one you interviewed for is NOT the alumni scholarship. The Alumni organization handles the mailed in applications for them, but the interviewing and funding of those scholarships is handled by a corporation that is not affiliated with the alumni scholarships. So there are actually 2 Town & Gowns - and here's where we had a problem. S filled out the alumni organization scholarship app online, found on the alumni website; there is something listed there called Town & Gown Jr. Auxiliary, etc...that is the alumni group/club. He checked it off. The Town & Gown you interviewed for was a separate application completely that was located on the scholarships/grants website and had to be mailed in. There was no connection or link from the Alumni application area to that separate Town & Gown. In fact, if you clicked on the alumni T&G, it brought up a little qualifier box that said you had to be f/s/j/s and live in LA County. No other info. So we never got to the other section that had the mail-in application link. And if you happened to be in the scholarship/grant section, the scholarship info above T&G was for Scions. That had a link to the 'application', and when you click on that, it brought you to the alumni website regular application. I personally don't think it's very clear that there is more than one Town & Gown. We only found out last week when good friends of ours whose son was asked to interview said "didn't you mail it in on time"? I had no idea what she was talking about because S applied online. That's when I called the alumni organization and they explained that there are two Town & Gowns, one is the group/club through alumni and the other is the corporation with their own mail-in application. So good luck!!

^ Well that's new to me too. My D also never mailed anything in. D filled out the application online, which included that essay about "how you will contribute to USC", and marked off the boxes of particular scholarships that would apply to her. As yet, we haven't heard anything about those. Has anyone?

So, Sequoia, we blew the chance at $10K. I was actually in contact with the person who runs the 'other' T&G, and naturally, I was told "no one else has ever had this problem", and that the "guidance counselor at your S's high school is very familiar with our program and certainly would have told him". That's assuming of course that the guidance counselor has time to sit and chat with my kid about SC. haha

Wow - that is really confusing. I completed both the on-line Alumni Scholarship application (checking off the Town and Gown option) AND filled out the paper version of the Town and Gown application (which must pertain to the "non-alumni" group). I submitted both just to be safe (didn't know that they were in fact separate). Sorry if I passed on incorrect information to everyone!

how did your interview go? what did they ask?

There were 3 alums who interviewed me as a group. It was pretty straightforward - we just talked about subjects specific to my resume - lasted 30 minutes.

Wow. I never received an email or anything about this T&G scholarship stuff. Did they send an email, mail, or did they call?

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

Anybody's just change yesterday?
And for those accepted, how long did it take to go from this to "acted upon"?

I submitted the application - but received an email requesting an interview.

My status went back from "we have received your midterm grades" to "We have completed an initial review of your application and would like to see the results of the first term of your senior year (final, not mid-term marks). If you haven't already done so, please submit these results at www.usc.edu/MDYResponse. "

From Friday until midday today they had the grades, now they don't? I submitted them online weeks ago.

rider730, the same exact thing happened to me. I had called yesterday to verify that they had received my grades and they had. My status was changed to "grades received" and suddenly switched back today, although the last updated time remained the same. Maybe just a glitch in the status system?

^same thing with me...from this afternoon to about 4:00

Me three. The "status last updated" for me is the same while the message went from received (2/5) to request (2/12). I am sure it is just a bug.

ahhhhh!!!!

it changed today.

from prelim review to:

infiniteabyss- I asked the same question a few pages back when my application status changed on 2/6. For some people it only took one day whereas for others it took over two weeks. My application status still hasn't changed yet.

We have completed an initial review of your application and would like to see the results of the first term of your senior year (final, not mid-term marks).

Barely updated today from Preliminary Review.

^ same situation as the above, and I live near LA :(

Sent in my midyear report online today and am currently waiting for some divine signal to descend upon me :)
