So only people admitted in this wave had the status "your application is being reviewed" right?

I'm hoping that for those of us in NorCal, we'll hear something from USC on Monday.

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

My status finally changed to "being reviewed" from "we've received" since jan 17!

I had a dream I got rejected, though that's what I think will really happen.

That's funny, cause I had a dream I got accepted, and I couldn't stop crying I was so happy. I was so angry when I woke up and found out it was only a dream.

Omg I had a dream that I got accepted too!!!! I saw the package in the mailbox and I was so happy haha. I was dissapointed when I woke up though.

Haha... maybe it's a sign?!

So far, I've had dreams that I got rejected from Rochester (like a month ago), Berkeley (like 2 months ago), and USC (yesterday).

" So only people admitted in this wave had the status "your application is being reviewed" right? "

hopefully... hopefully...

my status changed to that just a few days ago. hopefully i'll have a little surprise waiting for me in the mail. = )

My s applied to Marshall. Since 12/5 his status page has said: "We have completed a preliminary review of your application...." The only thing he's gotten from USC was the form no Merit $ for you letter.
He has a 32 ACT, 2110 SAT -M760, CR 700, W 650. SAT II Math 770, Spanish 700. U GPA 3.9, W GPA 4.4 & good ECs. We thought he was clearly w/in the USC accept parameters. But it looks like USC has already cherry picked the applicants it wants to admit & he's in the lesser desired accept or reject pile. As the person who'll have to shell out $200K to USC I'm thinking a > welcoming school might be a better ROI.

this might sound completely stupid
BUT
mine doesn't have a "status last updated"
and it's currently at
"We received the fall grades we requested, and require no additional information at this time. We will mail decisions to freshman applicants by April 1st."
i don't know how long it's been like that
haven't logged on in a long time.
.....):

i sent them my midyear without them asking for it and it is recorded under received documents, but I don't know why it still says u MAY send them..

oh, and they contacted me about the norman topping scholarship via email, but on the application website, it says that they don't automatically forward applications to all who are eligible for financial aid so i'm trying to figure out why they would contact me. It has to be based on something they learned from my application, but my status says :

We have completed a preliminary review of your application. We sometimes request additional information (senior-year grades, for example), so be sure to watch the mail. You may submit senior year grades at www.usc.edu/MDYResponse, even if we did not specifically request them. We are continuing to review applications and expect to mail notification of a decision by April 1st.

help please!

whyworry: D is in same boat as your S, somewhat higher test stats, a bit lower GPA. I think you are being unfair to USC:

First, there are people with A LOT better stats that have been passed over so far. USC seems to be the only school so far that does not appear to be more or less "by the numbers". Second, it is unclear how/when the "status" page is updated. D's status changed a few days ago and was back-dated to two weeks ago. Just because the status has not changed does not mean they have ignored the application. Third, you should not penalize them providing a bad status update system, when other schools have not bothered to provide any system.

USC's process is what it is. Your S is one of 30k+ applicants, his stats are unremarkable in the sense that there are thousands others like him, sit tight, the decision will come. If you can afford the cost (sounds like you can), let your S make the decision where to attend, you just need to make sure that the decision is sound (GF attending same school is NOT the right reason :-)

Whyworry, I don't think that's true. They've cherry picked those who are competitive for scholarships already, but the first wave of non-scholarship acceptances seems to be starting now. The only people who got acceptances on Saturday were living in SoCal, so we should hear about a lot more early this week. Your S sounds like he'll have a really good chance...don't worry, be happy! ;-)

i live in SoCal but i didnt get any letters tears up then again my grades and scores werent that great 1820 SATI 660 math2c 630 phyiscs and i'm doubtful but i'm still hoping

Hey man, I had an 1850 SAT I score and a 760 Spanish and 680 Lit SAT II. So don't worry, there are plenty of people in your score range that applied and who knows, maybe you'll get in.

ok has anyone whos status changed to "being reviewd" on the 27th feb got their acceptance letter?
Mine changed last week and i hoping to hear soon.
And when is the next wave coming??

Just curious - is there anyone who has been in the secondary "review" stage (the one supposedly before "acted upon") for over a month yet? I'm fast approaching a month since mine changed on 2/6.

aj16- The wave's just started. Only SoCal has been hit so far.

Hopefully I'll hear something by the end of the week because I'm super nervous.

no.....i meant the wave after this one??
