i just got accepted to iu and was wondering if you can bring your own little air conditioning system into briscoe since theres no ac? i wanna apply to northwestern neighborhood because i like mcnutt and foster but i dont want to be in briscoe. is it really that bad without ac?

Just out of curiousity, why are you asking about which dorm you should live in if you already know where you want to live? Also, I don’t think you can bring your own air conditioner, unless you have a medical reason. I believe students in Briscoe are only allowed to have fans without a doctor’s note explaining why they need air conditioning. I live in Teter, so I’m not sure how bad it is without air conditioning, but I will say that I stayed overnight at orientation and my room was really warm and humid (as was the weather).

You can bring an air conditioner if you have a medical form filled out - but they’ll accept practically anything for an excuse, most people just get their doctors to write out “allergy problems” and they can install one. I’m in Briscoe right now without an AC unit and I’m fine. It was a little bit uncomfortable during the first few days, but it gets cooler at night so I was fine and I didn’t really spend much time in my room during the day. We’ll see how the spring plays out but it was a very hot September so I’m guessing I’ll be fine.

This past September was actually unusually cool, but it tends to be cooler at the the beginning of May than it is in August and September.
