What essay score do I need to maintain an 800?

in writing?????

Aim for a 9 or above.

-0 mc, 9 essay is a 800 possible.
12 essay,-1 still 800 ,im not sure about -2.

for the official 2008-2009 collegeboard test,

11/12 essay with up to -2 raw score (1 wrong or 2 omit or 1 wrong 1 omit) is 800
10 essay with -0 raw score

for the official 2007-2008 collegeboard test,
12 essay with up to -3 raw score (2 wrong or 3 omit or 1 wrong 2 omit) is 800
10/11 essay with up -2 raw score (1 wrong or 2 omit or 1 wrong 1 omit)
9 essay with -0 raw score

but of course, try to aim for a high essay grade no matter what just in case you screw up on the MC (i.e. get ONE more question wrong). With an 11 essay on the 2007-2008 test with a lower raw score by ONE point will give you a 790 (pretty darn good). But the same MC raw score with a 10 will give you a 770 (still pretty good, but definitely not as “good sounding” as a 790).

Usually, if you miss 0 MC, you can get an 800 with a 9-12. And if you get -1 you need 11-12
