People use the these terms all the time in telling somebody their chances, but what EXACTLY do they mean? If you're a "match," what are your actual odds of getting in? What percentage and what not? What about a "reach"?

Could somebody please explain to me what these terms mean/imply with respect to what your specific chances are and how excited (or disappointed) you should be?

And how do these categories - match - safe/match etc) equate to SAT scores 25% to 75% percentiles and are those percentiles for admitted or enrolled. Thanks

Below 25%: Reach
25%-50%: Slight Reach
50%-75%: Match
75% and above: Safety/Safe Match

For ivies and the equivalent (assuming no hook)

Below 25%: Hope you're good at basketball
25%-50%: (unrealistic) Reach
50%-75%: Slight Reach (realistic), maybe around 35% chance
75% and above: Good chance, but not match

keep in mind that admit rates at these schools are low, so it's still hard to predict, and chancing HYP and such don't work.

Where does UC Berkeley fall? Also, why exactly are you more lenient in your terms for Ivies and top colleges?

"50%-75%: Slight Reach (realistic), maybe around 35% chance"
35% isn't between 50% and 75%

I'm a bit confused by your scale...
