I just found out that I have been waitlisted at Dickinson College. I was just wondering what does it mean exactly? Does it mean that I'm not good enough as the accepted student or that they are unsrue about me enrolling there? Or maybe that I'm good enough but they can't meet my financial needs (I'm an international student).

It means that they have accepted a bunch of students, and some of those students will go there and some won't. If enough of the accepted students choose not to go, then they'll offer a spot to some of the waitlisted kids.

I don't know about how that affects financial aid. I do know that most kids who are put on the waitlist are encouraged to find a spot at another college.

^it could be any one of those factors or a combination of some or all of them.

i am a bit surprised dickinson did not accept you though. your SATs were quite good for it. good luck for the rest

thanks...it seems Dickinson has waitlisted quite a few intels this year

I was waitlisted at Dickinson as well, which surprised me because I considered it one of my target schools. I elected to stay on the waitlist, so maybe I'll get in..I don't know.

I'm thinking it's because I didn't interview and need a lot of financial aid. My supplemental essays also weren't the best I've written since Dickinson was my last completed app and I was sort of burnt out. I don't know...it really could be anything!

Anyway, best of luck!
