my parents got a letter from whitman's finaid office saying "we are in the process of computing your daughter's financial need for the 2005-2006 academic year," and they need more information. does this mean i'm in? or do they evaluate everyone's financial aid applications separately from their admission-to-the-college applications?

YOU ARE IN!!! For some reason I think I remember kids from my school talking about Whitman giving little hints out---kind of like those "likely letters" that were being discussed in other posts. I think you are def. in!! Congrats

Well I'm not THE pessimist here, but.. ariadne09..It cud also be that you might have missed out some information while filling the fin-Aid forms or stuffs like that..and the college sent the letters to your parents seeking some information regarding those missed out information. Isn't it true that the college calculates the need of all the students who have applied?

Sorry for the discouraging suggestion, but always look up at Stroper's comments to cheer urself up :). Hope we see each other this coming fall!

my other friend got a letter from hopkins saying almost the exact same thing, and she didn't even finish their application (didn't send in SATs or an essay)...i guess whitman does the same thing and calculates for all applicants, like you said.

guess i shall have to wait until april, just like the rest of the normal high school senior population.

Just curious.....was it just a small envelope saying you had been accepted, or the full fledged thick envelope?? Also, what part of the country do you live?
