what exactly would someone involved in marketing do?

? is it a fun job? do u make alot of money?

This is a very general question. It really depends on what corporation you work for. You have to be very vocal and communicate well with others. Typically, I heard grads will work many hours after they graduate, but then the hours level off. Is it fun? It all depends. If you like advertising, blah blah blah, etc., then of course its fun. Fresh Graduates tend to make less of a salary in this discipline compared to the other business fields. If I'm not mistaken, the average starting salary is sub-40,000. But it might pay off in the long run with compensations, benefits, and other crap. Good Luck.

Jerry's right on the lower salary thing, but the lifestyle is pretty chill. I know someone who graduated and they ended up making a little below 40 but having free company car. Their work consisted of going to grocery stores and checking to see whether products were properly placed.

it's a pretty big field with all sorts of jobs

I work for a Coke bottler, distributor, and it doesn't require a degree to do this type of work (Merchandising). From what I've been told/heard, marketing graduates usually start out as salesmen, or market researchers and work their way up using their degree as the key to open doors for higher up positions.

For large companies you can work in brand mgt. which basically means acting as a bridge between the company, advertisers, and product development.

^this is definitely the way to go.

How long does it take for someone to work in brand management? What undergrad business schools are known for marketing?
Does marketing require an extensive knowledge of math?

Can anyone answer? :(
