What examples did you use in november 2009 essay???

are we “allowed” to discuss everything

Lmao… not really.

I used MTV cribs and America’s Next Top Model. Seriously, I couldnt think of anything else. But I think it was pretty good, just didnt fill up the last few line. I’m hoping for a 10 or a 11.

i filled up basically everything but my concluding was one bad sentence b/c proctor announced time was up as i was writing it. still sorta finished:

Great Gatsby–how the parties reflected materialism/affluence(forgot that word when writing, darn) in society
Scarlet Letter–views towards adultery

Hmm… My prompt was “does society benefit when others pursue their goal”

I blanked out in the beginning so I got 1.5 [crappy] pages of…

A Raisin in the Sun (linked it to racism)
Political cartoons (Join or Die)
Invisible Man (pretty much the same think as Raisin)

Yeah sadly I’m hoping for an 8. The essay really caught me off guard and I thought of Scarlet Letter too late into the essay. I could’ve actually worked with that one though, I feel. Gah oh well, I think I did pretty well on the MC.

My prompt was, “Does society or groups of people benefit when individuals pursue their own self-interests?” with slightly different syntax/diction.
It was really easy. I chose laissez-fair economics with capitalism intertwined and chose Animal Farm.

^ good choices my friend ;)

Haha, thanks.

Self Reliance- Emerson, A Model of Christian Charity- Winthrop, 19th century rights activists

I took a historical perspective, and went with film noir in the 1940s, then rock music/American avant-garde and bohemia in the 1960s

I used Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451.

^ That’s a good one too. I find that Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451, and 1984 all have the same applications and broad meaning. It’s hard for me to pick one of these as my literature example because they’re all so great.

My prompt was “does society benefit from the pursuit of goals by individuals”… i used frederick douglass and isaac newton.

I used Patrick Suskind’s Perfume and how it reflected the rise and fall of Hitler. I also got some examples from my english research paper last year about the media being responsible for women’s low self esteem.

I also got the same prompt as glacial.

I’m really worried now though ; everyone’s ideas sound so sophisticated…

Completely blanked out on the essay - what was the question anyway? I can’t even remember. BAD TIMES.

Can anyone help suggest a score:

 • 1.5 pages of well-constructed but perhaps a tad waffley text.
 • Examples were scientific developments over time, linked this with accidental scientific findings (positive) as by-products of this research. And advancements of women’s rights and suffrage etc.
 • Final parag on Elizabeth Bennett Pride&Prejudice - questioning Darcy’s character as a means of understanding him more fully. Also Austen conveying this in the narrative to help the reader begin to understand Darcy through Elizabeth’s eyes.

Too basic?
Also I ran out of time so my conclusion was probably not overly great, hopefully acceptable though?

PLEASE. ANY THOUGHTS AND I WILL FOREVER BE IN YOUR DEBT!!!

is it bad that I used 2 lit examples? I was running out of time and wouldn’t have finished a 3rd hist/personalexample

@2014, proll 7-10, sounds decent

l’h

I used Like Water for Chocolate
Bill Gates
Martin Luther King Jr.
