So, I go round CC and see everyone is going to these camps, and programs while I'm not doing anything. So, what should I do this summer and in the school year. I plan to volunteer at my local hospital...but I don't know what else to do. Also, I would love to get into a program or some sort of selective camp, but I don't know any, and I don't know how to get into them and apply to be selected. Any suggestions would be very helpful! BTW, I'm a rising sophomore,(15 years old) So i can't get a job and not I don't see any volunteer jobs. I live in Orlando(IDK if that matters!) :)

Its pretty late to join any camps this summer, but lucky you, there’s still another 2 summers ahead for you!

Simply attending a camp or volunteering once looks good, but it doesn’t show as much commitment as someone who’s been an intern or volunteer for two years. Look for any volunteer positions that call for above and beyond; not just a day at the hospital, but an unpaid position that goes for months or years.

Also, don’t force yourself to volunteer at a senior center or hospital cause everyone’s doing it or that’s all you’ve heard of. If you have a career field in mind, look for any internships, classes, or other programs.

well, I plan to get into the medical field…so that’s why I’m thinking of volunteering at the hospital
