Has anyone read the Twilight, Eclipse, New Moon series?

Cornell is mentioned in New Moon i think :)
Not the most educational books...but oh well. haha

There is a great short story by Mary Gordon--who teaches at Cornell or used to if she doesn't any more, called "City Life", and the main character's husband teaches at Cornell before he gets a job at Columbia. I think the story won the "O Henry award" in like 1997

Also, in Dirty Dancing, in addition to Neil Kellerman going to the Hotel School, the song they sing at the end of the "Talent Show" is to the music from the Cornell alma mater, although different lyrics

And in the movie "Say Anything" this girl says to Ione Skye's character at the post-graduation party "If it hadn't been for you motivating me I never would have gotten into Cornell" or something like that

not mentioned, but there are shots of Cornell in the movie "The Sure Thing" filmed when I was there

According to Stephen Colbert...the blue power ranger is a Cornell alum...haha

In the movie 'Step Up' - lead female Nora's mother wants her daughter to apply to Cornell and Brown and there is a scene where Nora drops college viewbooks in front of her mom and Cornell one is on the top :D

In the book 'Everyone Worth Knowing' by Lauren Weisberger - there is a character named Sammy, a bodyguard at the nightclub who graduated from Cornell as a Hotelie (well, he works as a guard and a bartender to pay off the loans :D, and at the same time he's training to become a chef so he could open his restaurant). I thought it was cute of author to mention her alma mater in the book.

Theres a small part in 'Harold and Kumar got to Whitecastle' where Kumars dad tells Kumar over the phone to prepare for his Cornell medical school interview (in the movie, Kumar has a perfect MCAT score)

Sry....I meant 'Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle'... although 'Harold and Kumar got to Whitecastle' is a good candidate for the name of the sequel :P ....

I find Cornell's references in both pop culture and those scientific studies that make the news surprisingly sparse compared to most of the other Ivies. Columbia, which I've always thought of as probably the closest peer school, seems to get a lot more run - probably because it's in NY and nobody sets anything in Ithaca.

Anyway - 30 Rock makes a passing reference to it when Tracy Morgan's character is trying to build up his posse. One of the guys in his entourage is going through where all of his former posse are. One guy he said is going to Cornell's Hotel School and Tracy says something like Mad props! That's a damn good program. (that's not an exact quote)

Also - I think there is a difference between encouraging diverse opinions and the shock-jock style of hateful rhetoric spouted by Ann Coulter for media attention.

While I would be happy to have a prominent conservative voicing well thought out, reasoned perspectives, I too am ashamed of sharing the same school as that shameful radical who spreads so much division without any foundation in reason.
