Actually, correction: graduating seniors, plural. I have a few senior friends who I know from extracurriculars who are graduating, and I'd like to get them small graduation gifts. I'm especially stumped with what to get the guys, but would like advice on the girls as well. I'll definitely be writing a card to all of them, but what else...Any suggestions?

Everyone always gives loads of gift certificates and sometimes meaningless presents that are more of a “well, here you go!” rather than something that really fits your personality. (like getting someone who loves painting a new paint set or something)

In my honesty… I think you should just give them cash. Let them spend it on what they want, unless they specifically ask for something. (I’m going to ask for a bike so it’s easier to get to classes from my grandparents, and a laptop from my mom)

I’ve thought about that too, but there are nearly 10 seniors I want to get gifts for, so I don’t think I could afford that. I’d rather do something more meaningful or memorable too.

Well, we don’t actually know them so I don’t know what to suggest to be meaningful. Maybe what they like? Maybe talk it over with some other junior friends that are also friends with them so you all can pitch in to buy something nice.

I personally love those annoying cards that sing and if you put in a picture or the recording of some inside joke before it plays a goofy song I’d remember and keep it.

Oh and 2 dollar bills are supposed to be lucky for college. I don’t know why, but I was recently given one and told to spend it at college for luck. I thought it was cool.

That’s understandable. I just had my 18th birthday and I was showered with gift cards, to shopping places and restaurants and stuff. It was appreciated, but I would’ve much rather had just had the money!

For girls, if you’re good with fashion you can’t go wrong with buying a cute shirt. Maybe from someplace like Abercrombie if you’re looking to spend around $30-50, Forever 21 for around $20, and even places like Target can have some cute items on sale.

I suppose if you know that they have anything they’re particularly interested in that could always help too. Like if they like art, you could buy them a small art kit. Stores like Michael’s always have cool crafty-things, usually for pretty cheap.

Do you have any places around you like 5 Below? It’s a great store around here that literally has everything inside of it priced for 5 dollars and below. It’s great for finding small gifts.

Oh, if it’s a guy friend just buy 'em condoms and booze. Guys love that stuff.

I’d like a whiteboard myself now that I think of it.

I think a nice frame with a couple of memorable pictures with you and your graduating friend is a great gift. (I personally love receiving them) Especially because they can hang it up on their dorm walls and always remember the good times you had!

Oh these are such good ideas! I really like the picture one, but unfortunately, I don’t have pictures with a lot of them lol. That $2 bill idea is cool too though…

Would this be too generic, even if I add a personal note on each one?
