What minor or other major goes best with a child development major?
or What kind of plan is best for a child development major? Because I feel majoring in child development would not be enough.

What do you plan to do with it? Teach? Counsel? Pediatrics? Research/academia? There are a variety of pairings depending on why you’re interested in child development and the type of career you’d like. Psychology or sociology for counseling or social work; education major for elementary or secondary education; biology or chemistry for a medical path; psychology or gender studies for a research track…the list goes on.

Actually, I’m not so sure. I do know that I DON’T want to go into research or medicine. What other options are available besides the one already stated, if any? Is there anything that will allow me to either “play” with kids or “play along” with them? I just feel “at home” when interacting with kids, maybe because of their creative and imaginative side as I am interested in art and music, as well. If that makes sense. Of course, I can’t BE a child myself. I have thought about art education…however, I may only earn so much to be able to pay the bills as an elementary art teacher. I also do not like the idea of a routine. Counseling may seem too emotionally and mentally draining for me. Working at a day care seems ideal, but a bachelor doesn’t appear to be necessary? And, again, I’m afraid it will not be enough to pay the bills. I desire to have a career, but I also wish to be directly involved with the children.
