Does anyone know what kind of GPA and SAT scores puts a student in the top 25% of applicants for Northeastern's Deans Scholarship? How competitive is Northeastern?

You can find that info in the common data set for NU
[Office of University Planning and Research > Common Data Set](http://www.northeastern.edu/oir/common.html)

My understanding is NU is hot right now and much more difficult to get into than it was 10 years ago (but what school isn’t?)

Thanks so much. It looks like you need a minimum combined score of 1780 on the SAT among other factors.

I believe you read the table incorrectly.

The bottom 25 percent of the students enrolled into the most recent class scored 1780 or less on the SATs.

The top 25 percent in the most recent entering class scored 2040 and higher

SAT scores at Northeastern have been steadily improving over the past decade, I know that in 2000 the average M/CR was about 1100, in 2006 when S started the average M/CR had risen to about 1230 and they have continued to rise since. Northeastern has been very actively attempting to improve its national rankings and move away from the regional/commuter school it was in the 90s.

btw, I didn’t have time to followup on yr question re merit aid at NEU on the other thread, and just wanted to note that my S rec’d both merit and grant aid, which decreased tuition by more than half. His GPA was abt 3.3 and combined M/CR was around 1360 (with Writing it wld have been around 2070). For us, the financial aid we rec’d, combined with spreading 4 yrs of tuition over 5 yrs has helped to make NEU more affordable (although it has definitely been a struggle financially and there will still be some loans to pay off, but in our case, I feel like it has been worth it. So far :))

D’s friend got a couple of scholarships at NEU (one for 15K, another for 5K). I believe her GPA was around 3.5/3.6 and her SAT scores were in the 1900s.
