What GPA's do colleges want to see?

For freshman year, I had an 89 average (B), which leads me into the 3.4 GPA av.
For sophmore year, I also had an 89 average, which leads me into the 3.4 GPA av.
For sophmore year, I took an honors english class.

So this coming junior year, I'm taking 2 AP's, and a non-mandatory language class. I'm afraid my GPA will be even more negatively affected because i'm taking so many difficult classes. How do colleges look upon this?

I want to get into a good college (I really want to get into NYU), but I don't know if my chances are super super low. I really need info on if my GPA is somewhat acceptable into getting into a college like NYU, or if I should stick to a community college (which I don't really want to do!)

Thanks!

You can google search what specific GPA’s certain schools look for. They show the ranges for GPA they look for and test scores and the whole lot.

No need to go to a community college; with a 3.4 City College can be gotten into (I assume that you are a NY resident or that you otherwise want to go to college in NYC) with 25+/1150+ CR+M.

Would any UC’s, or good colleges out of state be too much of a high reach?
