Have questions on my GPA.

I'm currently a Junior in HS and want to know more about how colleges will see my GPA.

In my Freshman and Sophomore year I have a 3.58 GPA with nearly all honors. Normally I have straight-A's but what brought my GPA down was solely due to my poor performance in Math (B-).

Anyways, with that aside, I'm taking AP Euro, AP Chem, and AP Bio this year. I knew that my unweighted GPA would probably suffer, but I decided to take the classes anyway. As expected, my grades fell and I'm averaging a B~B+, which will take a hit on my GPA. Tbh, I'll probably get a 3.3 GPA by the end of Junior year.
The thing is, when college admissions read my grades, will they be aware of my classes and perhaps be more lenient? Heck, was it the even right choice that I chose to take those AP courses?
I want to go into NYU, but does my GPA reach their standards? Or is it below average?

.While colleges look at both gpa and rigor of coursework, generally it is best to take the hardest classes you can while still keeping grades up. You can look up info on past accepted students on the Common Data Set (google it for NYU.) Sometimes they give the avg gpa, sometimes just tiers of students by class rank. SAT/ACT is also a major part of the mix
