Hi, guys
What grade did you get for calculus 3 in cc? Is B considered a bad grade for calculus 3? Will a B in calculus hurt me in my chances of getting into good UC engineer schools?
Thanks!

Calc 3 is pretty difficult. At my CC it’s the highest you can go in calculus. If you have A’s in your other math/engineering classes (and depending on your overall GPA) you should be fine :)

@pologirl13 Thanks for the reply! My story is a little bit interesting. I had an overall grade of 96% before my final exam, but I got only 72% for my final, lol… That resulted a B for the semester grade.

Getting a B in calc III won’t kill your chances, but obviously it won’t help the way an A would. If you take the stand point that “if it doesn’t help me get in, therefore it must be hurting me,” then yes getting a B “hurts” your chances.

Remember it’s the overall package that matters for admissions. I got A+'s in all my lower division math classes (calc I-III, DiffEq) except Linear Algebra (just A) but I still got initially rejected by my state flagship while my friend who had straight B’s in all the same courses (A in calc I though) got in with no trouble. However I wasn’t applying to UC schools.
