Calculus 2 was a very difficult class for me when I took it over the summer (huge mistake) and received a C. I'm into the fourth week of retaking it a community college and people are saying I have an extremely difficult teacher who doesn't give A's ( and I could tell hes intense already ) and since the community school is big on engineer transfers I've already bumped into a handful of people who have failed his class and are telling me to run while I still can...do you think I should drop and keep the C and has anyone been accepted into a good engineering school (good reputation good education) after earning a c in calculus 2?? I certainly don't want to get a C twice!

Even if you get an A this time, they will still notice that you took the course twice. And if you get a C (or worse) the second time around, then it will look worse than just getting a C once. Really there is not much upside to retaking a C or higher grade. Better to do well in your other courses.

Depends on the school you’re applying to, but ideally you should have no lower than a B in your core transfer classes.

If you’re trying to get into a highly selective school, I would say you have no choice but to bite the bullet and retake the class. Otherwise, assuming that’s your only C, it might be best to avoid retaking the class and risk getting a lower grade, which, like UCB stated, would look much worse on your transcript.
