do they look at grade 9 too,
or is it 10-12?

A minority do not consider grades in freshman year, rest do so it depends on college. Also note that majority of colleges, including most public universities, make decisions based on grades through junior year and do not use any senior year grades although most of your high ranked schools that make final decisons in March or April do consider first semester senior year grades.

hm… do you know how stanford, nyu, and georgetown does it?

^ I’m pretty sure all the top schools consider your GPA overall by how your school does it. And in most high schools, your freshman year grades are still counted into your overall GPA, so yes, it will matter. But they also look at your grades individually, and if you’ve gotten better and better grades throughout high school, they’ll take that into account too
