What grades do i maintain?

Hi I was accepted early decision and I am really excited. I just wanted to know what type of grades I must maintain in order to keep my acceptance. I may be on the verge of a C. thank you

I think that question is like asking what is the meaning of life? Everyone wants to know, but nobody really knows the true answer.

True story: there was a kid who was a senior last year in my AP Chemistry class. After he got into Rutgers he stopped doing work. Literally, he stopped. In my school AP Chemistry is the most rigorous class mainly due to the fact that the teacher is extremely passionate about the subject and very intelligent. So the kid just stopped doing work, this happened in numerous classes. After his colleges got his end year transcript Rutgers revoked his admission and said unless he could provide a reason for his grades dropping he would not be able to attend. He tried some made up excuse about being falsely accused of drugs which is why he had unneeded stress (he wasn’t falsely accused he tested positive). Rutgers did not accept the reason so he ended up at Drexel.

So, all I would say is keep it in a reasonable level from where your grades were. Even if one class’s grades drop try and maintain the same GPA. But if you let everything drop revoking admission is a true possibility.

thank you for that detailed post. I just have one more question. what is the deal with final transcripts. I know i must send my midyear report but is a final transpirt required? And if it is, do they really look at it? these are just rumors going around my school. if i were an admissions counsler i would want to look at every grade of the applicant. thank you

I’m pretty sure a final transcript is required, I’ve never heard of any school that doesn’t require one. One of the parameters of being accepted says that you receive your high school diploma so I would assume they want your final transcript.

I would like to add, that I was speaking to my Calc teacher who had the student I was talking about. I was saying how I was afraid about a school rescinding acceptance. And she told me that it rarely happens, that in her 10 years of teaching it has only ever happened to one of her students, and that was the aforementioned one. That may add some more perspective, he apparently went from A’s and B’s to C’s and D’s.

if it’s an AP class, i think a C is okay? I’ve gotten two Cs my first semester of my senior year [in AP Calc and AP Physics B] and was still accepted to Brandeis… My grades were pretty bad though in the years before… I took all AP/honors classes and got straight B’s my second semester of my junior year… =( So i guess a C isn’t that far of a drop in grades for me.

i wouldn’t know if i would get rescinded for getting a C second semester because i got accepted this year XD I’m in your situation too! I don’t think i can ever get a B in AP Physics B…
