What happen if you get accepted on Early Decision but decide not to attend?

Just wondering, if I get accepted to one school on Early Decision, let's say college A,and college A says that if I get accepted through Early Decision I must attend College A. They main issue is what happen if I dont go to college A but attend college B instead? What can college A do to me? Can they tell College B to kick me out?

......I dont think it works that way. In many cases you'll get your decision way before the RD applicants do when you apply as ED. However, the deadline to respond to their acceptance (if you get in) is set before you know whether you're accepted to your other colleges. If you decline the acceptance during this time you can't re-apply as a regular decision applicant. So make sure you really want to go to whatever college you're choosing as your ED.

Now If you accept their invitation for ED and choose to cancel it later they will need a very good reason... However I don't think they'll ever go as far as to tell others about it

If you do an early decision and get in and choose not to go without clearing it with the college first, you very likely may end up not going anywhere. The only way to break the early decision contract is if the financial aid package makes it impossible for you to go; some colleges are more lenient than others on this.

You are supposed to rescind all applications once you get in early. Colleges often share the list of early acceptances to catch students that do this.

College A calls your GC who tells them you applied to college B. College A calls college B and they might take away your acceptance.

Check the CC archives as this question has been asked many, many times.

Bottom line:What's at risk is your ability to go to any college except much lower ranked colleges and your state's public institutions.
