What happened to Khan Academy putting up a practice PSAT today?

So for months Khan Academy has been advertising Oct. 1st as official practice day.

So it is Oct 1st and there is no practice PSAT available except the one that has been available all along. Anyone know what is going on with that?

Day ain’t over yet.

@Plotinus THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FINDING THE SECOND PRACTICE TEST!!! My school was no help and apparently didn’t have the student guide with test 2 so I’ve been trying to find this with no success until now. Thanks again!

D’s school does not have a student guide either…What is up with this?

Isn’t it the same as what the GC provides to the students?

@VANURSEPRAC Do you mean this:

https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/official-student-guide-psat-nmsqt-2016.pdf ?

@VANURSEPRAC the link above the Plotinus provided is the booklet that was given to my dc by the his GC. If you paid for the PSAT you should have got this booklet - it’s part of the testing fee.

I received this tweet from @OfficialSAT today:

We hope to have the PSAT/NMSQT practice test #2 and scoring guide available online by the end of the week.

@3scoutsmom, the school district paid for the PSAT.

Ah, that might be why, maybe that got a discount that didn’t include the booklet? The booklet is identical to the link Platinus posted so at least you have access to it.

Does anyone have the pdf where they say the conversion chart and the subscores? I could not find these and they are not in the practice test #2 packet anywhere. These were useful for the practice test #1.

Ugh, that was a disappointment! They released last years PSAT10 which my S took, so we already have the booklet! Thanks for nothing College Board. I guess you didn’t realize that the same 10th graders that paid for your PSAT10 last year are juniors this year?

@planner03 thank you for solving this mystery! I told DS to hold off on taking the PSAT practice test in the booklet until this weekend but after he started it he said he’d already taken it. We couldn’t figure when he would have taken it but this explains that! I’m really feeling ripped off by the College Board!

@3scoutsmom @planner03
When was this PSAT10 = PSAT Practice Test 2 administered? In October 2015? Did the students get their booklets back with their scores subsequently?

@Plotinus it was in the Spring just before the new March SAT. DS doesn’t remember getting the test booklet back but does remember getting a list of the answers he got wrong (most likely on line) and he very distinctly remembers the first reading passages because he messed that one up.

@3scoutsmom
I see on the CB website that the PSAT10 is given in February and April. If these tests are returned to the students, then there would be even more QAS’s “out there”. Could your son access the questions online, or just his answers?

@Plotinus it must have been in February then because I know it was a few weeks before the March SAT. I just had my son double check. He can access his PSAT10 test questions on the CB web site and he compared it to the 2016 PSAT Practice test booklet he was given by the GC and it is the EXACT same test!

I think this is really sneaky of the CB to pass off the PSAT10 as a new free practice test when I had to pay $30 for my son to take it.

Edit to add that I think the CB is just plain lazy and trying to squeeze every last cent out of us for the least amount of effort on their part!
