What happens if I miss the AP test?

An distant uncle has just passed away. Although I didn't know him that well, my mom wants me to come to the funeral which happens to be out of state. I have AP Bio on Monday and AP Govt on Tuesday. If I miss the tests, will there be a make-up date? Do I have to do anything before hand to make sure I can take it on the make up date? I have no idea how this works and I can't seem to find the info on the collegeboard website. Anybody know?

Sorry to hear about your uncle, don't worry, AP testing is considerably flexible w/ make-ups (since they have an alternate test form). I actually had a friend who also had a family member pass away around the time of AP testing, last year during Chemistry and Gov't and he re-took his, so just contact your guidance dept. or whoever administers the test and tell them you're situation. Sorry again bout your situation, hope all goes well.

Thanks for the advice. Do you know if I have to contact the administrator before Monday since the AP Bio one is on Monday? If so, I'm not sure how I can get a hold of her since it's the weekend. Are they flexible about that?

Late Testing
Occasionally extreme circumstances may make it necessary for students to take an alternate form of a particular exam during the late-testing period. Only students affected by these circumstances may test late; everyone else must take the exam at the set time on the regularly scheduled date. Check with your AP Coordinator about your eligibility for late testing if you are unable to take an AP Exam on its regularly scheduled date and time. For example, if you wish to take exams that are scheduled for the same time slot, you should ask your AP Coordinator to contact AP Services for information about taking one of the exams during the late-testing period.

Note: If you test late, your grades may be delayed up to a month (August release), and your free-response booklets will not be available.

This is really all I could get. Srry.

Yeah, that's all I found too. They're so ambiguous! Thanks again though. Does anybody else know what to do?

I'd talk to the guidance counselor RIGHT NOW. Pronto.

That's really all it takes. I'm late testing for CompSci because I was scheduled for Spanish at the same time. He requested a test, bingo.

But DEFINITELY speak to someone.

No offence to your mom, but I wouldn't make you go...I would let you focus on school...and send you in June to visit the family, but that is me

Does your school require students in AP courses to take the AP tests?

If they do, and if you can't schedule a make-up test, you could be at risk of failing the course.

If your mother's concern is based on the fact that you would have to stay home alone overnight to take the tests while she goes to the funeral, could you find a friend to stay with, preferably someone whose parents your mom knows and trusts?

My son was really sick (bronchitis) and our school said he had to take 2 AP's (US History AND Euro history) back to back last Friday. He didn't even have 4 minutes in between to eat!! For some reason the first one started late. He went from 8am to 3 with no break and being sick.
