My friends high school isn't accredited? How will this affect her admission into college??

Bumpppp!!......

Why the **** would she go to a non-accredited high school?

How did former graduates of her high school handle that situation?

I don't know how the other graduates handled it...............

find out fast.

then instead of getting an actual diploma, she will get a certificate saying she graduated

kick ass on the SATs and AP tests and it shouldn't be a problem, any more than it is for one to be homeschooled.

If your not accredited, colleges wont take your GPA very seriously.

I'm pretty sure all homeschools have to be accredited.

Seriously, why would anyone attend schools not accredited? Even the inner city slum schools that everyone looks down upon is state accredited at least.

Nope-homeschools are not accredited. That's kind of the point of homeschooling. You get to do pretty much whatever you want to do. If you want to go to a certain type of college, you just have to make sure you fulfill whatever requirements they have for admission. But how you do that is up to you.

In one of the college admission books, it said this is when SAT scores are important especially when a school is unknown, similar to home schooling.

^^
Ditto. Your friend needs to kick ass on those tests if she wants to get into college. Otherwise her GPA means nothing to the adcoms.

Also, advise this friend to take Community college courses over the summer. Damn though, why would you go to a high school that's not accredited?

To everyone that is asking why a person would go to a non-accredited school. I think a lot of people forget not all schools are the safe and sane ones a lot of U.S kids go to. Some kids DO fear for their lives when they go to school and the one this person is going to,although not accredited, may be a heck of a better choice.

This just came to me as a possible reason. I'm not saying this is the reason this person is taking this schools or that there aren't any other alternatives to bad schools.

***What if the school became accredited before she sent in her college apps.? Would she be okay then?

I think the school is getting accredited in August, supposedly...

soooo..........would she be alright?
