What happens If You're Late On Your CARs Payment?

I'm going to be a day late. I just...need to know if I'm still going to be able to go to UC Berkeley. Or what will happen to me...

Nothing will happen to you. There is wiggle room in the due date, especially the first month since people are dealing with finalizing their financial aid. Don’t worry. You will be fine. Good luck at Cal! I hope you have a great year. :-)

Are you sure? I mean…I won’t be removed from Berkeley if it’s a day late?

Thank you…that means so much to me.

Yes, I’m sure. You will be fine. What does your quick statement balance show? Why are you going to be a day late? Are you waiting on financial aid? Also, the due date is on a Sunday so Monday will be fine. Don’t worry. They won’t kick you out of Cal!

No I have to pay around $3000. And I was stupid…I forgot. Like an idiot.

Oh okay. Then don’t worry about it. Just take care of it Monday. Just submit the electronic payment today and call CARS tomorrow to tell them you did it. It’s hard keeping track of all the deadlines. You’ll get used to it. Hang in there. :-)

Okay I did it. Thank you…so much. I hope you’re right. I’ll make sure to call them.

Let me know how it goes.

Well, I had a hard time calling them because it seemed like all the phones were tied up & when I finally did, the lady sounded all bored. I was like, “Is this going to have any effect on my Berkeley enrollment status” and she nonchalantly said, “What? No. You’re fine.”

So…I also asked if there might be a late fee, and she said yeah, maybe, but other than that…I’m good.

Whoo…ha ha, I was worrying so much about that. >.<

Thanks though. I tend to overthink things too much, so thank you.

Hahaha… I hear you on the financial aid person. I got one when I called that said my son would not receive any refund until the end of the semester. I said, “That doesn’t make sense. He needs the money to live on.” I got a “Uh… I don’t know about that.” I ended up having to call CARS to figure out what the actual scoop was. Often times the person you get on the phone is a college student who works in the financial aid office. You need to get a financial aid counselor which is hard to get to sometimes. I’m so glad you got it all taken care of though. I’m like you. I tend to over think things also, but it’s people like us that catch all the details!!! Best of luck at Cal. Go Bears!

Ha ah, definitely. Of course, there are still some loose ends for me to uh tie up, but I’m good. Lesson learned though…I’m going to have to be a “bit” more attentive to deadlines now. :P

They will send you to San Quentin Prison
