what if I'm stuck on the waitlist for like the entire quarter? Do I still get credit for the class?

I don't think you're technically enrolled. Your professor should give you a PTE number to move you from the waitlist to the roster. I was on the waitlist for a class and didn't get the email my professor sent to the class, because of course, I was not yet in the class.

You won't be. At some point you either have to get a PTE number or the professor will tell you that you won't be able to add.

that doesn't sound good?

The professor should have made some sort of announcement about the waitlist and when he was going to decide. If he doesn't do something about it by the end of the week, I'd contact him and see what's going on.

the professor said something like there are too many of you, some of you will have to take another course or take this class next quarter or next year or this summer.

I'm stuck in a situation like this with my GE Cluster and I'm really frustrated. Is it okay if I enroll in another cluster and would it hurt me that I didn't attend the first class and a discussion? Can I catch up?

mnucla, what cluster are you in?

Work, Labor and Social Justice. I'm waitlisted 2nd even though I'm enrolled in the lecture and I'm sad because I really am interested in this subject.

... how can you be enrolled in the lecture yet still be on the waitlist? almost sounds like you're not enrolled at all...

after a certain amount of time, usually 2 weeks, the professor can choose to drop everyone from the waitlist. either that, or take in the people on the waitlist via giving out PTE's. be aware that if you're waitlisted at all (even if it's only for the section, and not the lecture), you're not technically enrolled in the class. so no, you don't get any sort of credit and you probably will be dropped entirely from the class in a week or two if you still aren't able to get in.
