What has high school thought you?

I’m a freshman!

Did you like high school? Why or why not?
It’s gone pretty well so far. I honestly don’t like my school as a whole, but I love learning and I’ve made some great friends. I went into this year with the attitude that high school is what you make of it, and that’s helped me a lot.

Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
Extremely! I accomplished a lot this year and didn’t let myself get distracted, which is something I was worried about coming in.

What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school?
Screw what others think of you. Focus on kicking their butt and showing them what you’re capable of.

What was your favorite class?
Probably Spanish I or Honors World History because I had fantastic teachers who were passionate about what they taught and you can tell they loved their job.

Least favorite class? Geography because I don’t like the teacher that much and it was one of my hardest classes.

How did you manage your time in high school? I used my time wisely. I did my homework between/during other classes and lunch so that I had none to do at home most of the time.

Rate your high school experience (socially) from 1-10.
6/10. I made a few really good friends this year and I’ve started to become a little less introverted. I also learned to stand up for myself this year, something I’ve always struggled with, so I’m proud of myself for that.

Rate your high school experience (academically) from 1-10.
9/10

Current junior. Almost done though.

Q: Did you like high school? Why or why not?
A: Yes? I enjoyed the people and the classes, but it’s not like I can do much outside of school. Let’s give it a 6.5/10.

Q: Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
A: 4.2 UW GPA, 3 varsity sports, 2 clubs, and 1 first place medal. Not too shabby.

Q: What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school?
A: I literally do not give any cares for people that aren’t close to me.

Q: What has high school taught you?
A: How to write and communicate my thoughts effectively.

Q: If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why?
A: I’d try to talk more to girls. I’m not terribly attractive, but having a girlfriend wouldn’t have been terrible.

Q: If you could redo all your years in high school, would you?
A: No. I’m ready for a change.

Q: What was your favorite class?
A: AP Calculus AB. Loved the teacher and loved the material.

Q: Least favorite class?
A: Junior English. Teacher was awful and so much work. Might have gotten my first B in that class.

Q: How did you manage your time in high school?
A: Freshman year I did major assignments at least two days in advance. By junior year, I do assignments day of.

Q: What was your favorite thing about high school?
A: Free periods with my friends.

Q: Least favorite?
A: Long boring chapels (I go to a Catholic school despite being obviously Muslim).

Q: Rate your high school experience (socially) from 1-10.
A: 5/10. I could have gotten out more, but I had fun with my friends.

Q: Rate your high school experience (academically) from 1-10.
A: 9/10. Great except for English. And not taking AP Spanish. We’ll see how that AP test went in July.

Current sophomore, so keep in mind this is all “as of up to now”

**Q: Did you like high school? Why or why not? **
A: Overall, yes.

**Q: Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school? **
A: So far, somewhat, though I definitely could’ve worked harder. I have went beyond what I originally thought I’d do as far as EC’s and sports though.

**Q: What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school? **
A: That I’ve really changed since 8th grade, for the better, overall (I think)

**Q: What has high school taught you? **
A: Uh…nothing…really. I won’t use much of anything I’ve learned in the real world. My teachers have given some good life lessons though, but nothing that the state curriculum provided.

**Q: If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why? **
A: I would’ve taken different classes freshman year because then I wouldn’t have had to do different ones than I ideally wanted and everything would’ve worked out better, long story.

**Q: If you could redo all your years in high school, would you? **
A: Yes, because of the above issue, and since I’m only two years into school, not like I’m graduating yet.

**Q: What was your favorite class? **
A: So far, AP World History, not because of the content, but because of the people in it/the teacher.

**Q: Least favorite class? **
A: Tie between Algebra 1 and Earth Science, because of the teacher and kids in it. If we’re talking about the kids in it alone, Intro the Media, because those kids were horrible.

**Q: How did you manage your time in high school? **
A: Me, manage time?

**Q: What was your favorite thing about high school? **
A: Probably the freedom we get and variety of classes.

**Q: Least favorite? **
A: How immature/petty everyone is. I’m partly a hypocrite, because I’m not perfect either, and I know it’s high school, but you’d think teenagers could be a little more…not so…teenagerish.

**Q: Rate your high school experience (socially) from 1-10. **
A: Probably like 5 or 6.

Q: Rate your high school experience (academically) from 1-10.
A: Probably like 4 or 5 (will probably go up to at least 7 after I take more AP classes).

Did you like high school? Why or why not?
This is a very hard question for me to answer. I like the environment of high school and the opportunities it gives you, but I really don’t like the format. I have taken many classes over the years that I absolutely hated only because it was a graduation/college admission requirement.

Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school? Obviously I would like to have accomplished more, but I am happy with what I have accomplished so far, and could be very happy if I accomplish my goals senior year.

What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about life in high school? Probably how to set priorities.

If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why? I would probably have been more outgoing and more involved freshman/sophomore years.

If you could redo all your years in high school, would you? This depends if I could keep all of the knowledge and lessons I have learned so far. If yes, then I would, because I could breeze through the first two years with a 4.0 take harder classes, get more involved, and all around just make it the best four years possible.]

What was your favorite class? Marketing

Least favorite class? German

What was your favorite thing about high school? DECA without a doubt. I have learned so much, had great opportunities, and met many people through DECA. If your school has a chapter I recommend joining and getting as involved as possible.

Least favorite? Having so many classes that I really didn’t care at all about.

Rate your high school experience (socially) from 1-10. Freshman/Sophomore year:5/10 Junior Year:8/10

Rate your high school experience (academically) from 1-10. 5/10

Current sophomore

Q: Did you like high school? Why or why not?
A: I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love most of it. But people are so fake and if you actually listen to some of the drama going on, it’s almost always laughable.

Q: Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
A: So far, kind of. My problem is that I find homework really redundant when I already know how to do something well… So I don’t do it… So I have a B or two haha.

Q: What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school?
A: Popularity is inversely proportional with happiness. I gave up a lot of my friends this year to hang out with the “popular” group. Bad idea. I mean it’s just such a vapid and repetitive lifestyle. I love talking about boys and drama, I mean I’m a 15 year old girl… But there is SO MUCH more than that in life. I like people that can talk about that stuff and are able to hold an intellectual conversation also. And girls are just mean when you’re in the in crowd. You never know if they’re your friend that day or if they decided to drop you. Or if they even really like you.

Q: What has high school taught you?
A: 1)Procrastinating is always the worst idea.
2) You often learn the most valuable lessons in the seemingly “useless” classes
3) Just because you’re a nerd, doesn’t mean you can’t have a social life.
4) You can cram so much into your schedule… Just expect an out of whack sleep schedule.
5) People aren’t who they seem
6) JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE A NERD DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN’T HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE.
I can’t stress that enough haha

Q: If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why?
A: I wish I had more motivation to work hard.

Q: If you could redo all your years in high school, would you?
A: I would. Freshman year was full of so many firsts because it’s just a new experience, and this year brought even more firsts.

Q: What was your favorite class?
A: Anatomy and Physiology

Q: Least favorite class?
A: Honors Trig

Q: How did you manage your time in high school?
A: No social time really during the week because of homework and dance practice, have fun on the weekends

Q: What was your favorite thing about high school?
A: The variety of people from different groups and cliques that I’ve become friends with. I have my close group of friends, but then I have a ton of friends from pretty much every genre? Idk which word to use haha

Q: Least favorite?
A: Fake people

Q: Rate your high school experience (socially) from 1-10.
A: 9

Q: Rate your high school experience (academically) from 1-10.
A: 8

I’m a freshman. I like high school because there are less problem children in my classes. I’ve only accomplished one thing, so I’m not happy about it. What I’ve learned is that I enjoy a class a lot more if I talk to my teachers and peers. High school has taught me that sometimes, math makes more sense in science than it does in the actual math class. I would change the B I got in Geography because it was the only B on my report card. I don’t know if I would redo high school, I’m just getting started. My favorite class is Japanese, my dear sensei is the kind of teacher that everyone loves. Least favorite would be geometry because my teacher is so creepy to the point where the other teachers acknowledge his creepiness. I don’t quite know how to manage my time, but if my grades are decent, then I must be doing it right. My favorite thing about high school? I don’t know yet. Least favorite? Not being able to understand the concepts given to me in science.

Rising senior.
Q: Did you like high school? Why or why not?
A: I don’t like high school, but it’s not the school’s fault. I go to one of the best public schools in the country and I’m grateful for that opportunity. I hate the atmosphere that centers around things that are unimportant to me (like gossip) and the general immaturity of most of my peers. I definitely have loved many of my classes and teachers, however.

Q: Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
A: I could have done a lot better, and I didn’t out of apathy. I wish I had tried harder. That said, I am pretty satisfied with what I have learned and how I have grown intellectually.

Q: What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school?
A: Not everybody will like you, but some people will. Dwelling on those that don’t is a waste of time.

Q: What has high school taught you?
I am pretty good at solving triangles these days.

Q: If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why?
A: I wish I had done more volunteer work early on. Not to pad my application- I learned the unfortunate way that I don’t do well if I don’t feel important. Helping people makes me feel like I matter and keeps me sane.

Q: If you could redo all your years in high school, would you?
A: Absolutely not. I’m more than ready to be done.

Q: What was your favorite class?
A: AP Spanish and AP Euro

Q: Least favorite class?
A: Chemistry

Q: How did you manage your time in high school?
A: I spent the minimal time on school work possible to get the grade I wanted.

Q: What was your favorite thing about high school?
A: Learning, debate

Q: Least favorite?
A: Most of the people here.

I’m surprised no body is saying they would repeat high school. Wouldn’t it be nice to just cruise through high school without having to try that hard? Or you could actually put effort in and basically be the genius of the school. You could also fix a lot of the mistakes you made.

Four years of your life for no real benefit. What’s the difference between an A and an A+?

Well you could also enjoy the ride a lot more. I was considering it going back to the age of 14 as a freshman so I didn’t really think about it as losing 4 years of your life

high school has to be the hugest pain in the ass ever

we have to dedicate 4 years our life just to convince colleges to let us give them tens of thousands of dollars for a degree that most likely has little to do with what u learned

I’m a graduating senior.
Q Did you like high school? Why or why not?
I like certain aspects of high school like my teachers, friends, and chorus. I hated the drama though. I liked high school more this year, probably since I only was on campus for 4 periods.

Q:Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
Yes. I worked hard and accomplished my goal of getting straight a’s.

Q:what was the biggest thing you learned about yourself/life in high school?
I learned that I can be a leader when assigned group projects. I also learned that the only person you can truly depend on to help you be successful is you.

Q:what has high school taught you?
How to approach people( teachers, peers, administrators) with problems or complaints.

Q:If you could change one thing, what would it be, why?
I wish I would have been more outgoing and done more things socially. My social life was pretty nonexistent.

Q:If you could redo all your years in high school, would you?
Nope, it’s a part of the past now and it’s time to move on.

What was your favorite class?
Ap lit or ap art history

Least favorite class?

Spanish 3 and acting.

How did you manage your time in high school?
I worked on hw not only at home, but during spare moments in rehearsals or at lunch. I made lists if the work I needed to get done.

What was your favorite thing about high school?
Choir, the teachers.

Least favorite?
The dumb people who ruin high school for the rest of us.

1) Did you like high school? Why or why not?
Looking back through my years of high school so far, I have to say yes. I love the schedule (gives me something to do/look forward to everyday). The chance to see my friends. Interact with people I may have never met otherwise. Of course the things we learn and the class room experience.

2) Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
Though I feel I could have done better for the most part. I think I did well I kept high marks, engaged in sports (even made varsity), as well as made a few friends along the way.

3) What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school?
I am a lot smarter than I give myself credit for. Great things can happen if you work hard.

4) What has high school taught you?
Besides the subjects we studied. Ignore drama, nothing good can come of it. Work really hard, it pays off. TIME MANAGEMENT.

5) If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why?
Have done track all 4 years, and join cross country. I love to run and I could probably have been much better than I was/am if I was consistent.

6) If you could redo all your years in high school, would you?
No.

7) What was your favorite class?
My Junior year history class. I can’t even begin to explain what that class has taught me.

8)Least favorite class?
Honors Chemistry (also Junior year) that class made me want to cry. It was just brutal.

9) How did you manage your time in high school?
Homework first everything second.

10) What was your favorite thing about high school?
Track and the people I have met.
11) Least favorite?
Drama, SAT’s, Chemistry, the construction, fire alarms, lunches.

I would, which is what I said two months ago.
As to your first question…not necessarily. Your brain would sort of atrophy after awhile.

Trying in high school isnt really worth it

I dislike that mentality, and I dislike high schools for engendering it.
High school shouldn’t be just about grades, getting assignments done, etc.

I’m a rising senior.

Did you like high school? Why or why not?
Well, I liked freshman year because it challenged me and I liked junior year even more because it really challenged me. I didn’t like sophomore year because I was extremely competitive and my classes were way too easy.

Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
Yes and no. In terms of extracurriculars, I haven’t done much. I’m proud of myself for surpassing all of my classmates in math, though.

What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school?
I’m in love with the subject of chemistry and I’m pretty sure I’m aromantic. I guess I’ll be spending the rest of my life with science and not a man. Ha ha!

What has high school taught you?
Life is like a weird, beautiful movie. You’re in this crazy situation with a ton of obstacles. Slowly, but surely, you surmount them. There are ups and downs. Sometimes, you cry and feel like giving up. You’re not sure if you’ll make it, but you give it your best shot. Every now and then, you stop and smell the roses. You laugh a little; there’s a lot of comic relief in life. Enjoy it!

If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why?
I would have gotten to know some of the kids from the Class of 2013 better. I hadn’t talked to most of them until the beginning of my junior year. Being introverted, I have trouble making friends. Now, they’re gone forever. Other than my brother, I’ll never see any of them again. I miss them. :(

If you could redo all your years in high school, would you?
No. Everything happens for the best. If I tried to do it all over again, I probably would have messed everything up.

What was your favorite class?
AP Chemistry; junior year (everyone else hated it, though)

Least favorite class?
Honors World Cultures; junior year

How did you manage your time in high school?
I don’t. I’m a huge procrastinator.

What was your favorite thing about high school?
It’s fun. You can make friends (or at least acquaintances) easily because they come to you. The classes are laidback. Teachers care about you.

I agree with TeenDream.

High school has taught me that sleep is extremely valuable and procrastination WILL bite you in the behind later and that caring about what people think about you isn’t worth it and you should do your own thing. I’ve also learned to join clubs even if my friends aren’t doing them and I’ve learned that there are some homework assignments that you can (and should) BS because teachers don’t check them so if you BS them, it’ll save you loads of time.

I’m a rising senior.

1) Did you like high school? Why or why not?
High school was okay but not the best. I didn’t really like my school all that much, but it did give me the freedom to take the courses I want so I’ll give it that. It was hard for me to make friends at first because I didn’t come from the feeder middle school but in the end I found my group.

2) Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
I could have done more.

3)What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school?
People think I’m a pushover but I’m not.

4)What has high school taught you?
To stand up for myself.

5) If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why?
I would be more involved at the school itself. I think I would have made friends faster that way.

6) If you could redo all your years in high school, would you?
You know what, probably.

AP Psychology

I’m going into my senior year.

1) Did you like high school? Why or why not?
I love high school so far. Sure, it’s been tough at times, but the people here and the welcoming environment have smoothed the bad things out. Freshman year was eye-opening because I didn’t know anyone and got to meet really different people. Sophomore year was the bomb. Junior year… bleh. But still, I loved my classes and the atmosphere. I think I’ll end up graduating and still loving my school years later.

2) Are you happy about what you accomplished in high school?
I wish I had gotten involved with more clubs that I’m interested in, but what I have now is good too. I found at least 3 things I’m passionate about, academically and activity-wise. I think I’ve left a positive mark, so I’m satisfied.

3) What was the biggest thing that you’ve learned about yourself/life in high school?
That there is no way to answer this without sounding cliche. I learned about my good traits and bad traits. Also, my teachers seem to think I’m brilliant which makes me concerned about the quality of our education system. Jk.

4) What has high school taught you?
No one is entirely confident of themselves. If you act like it, people will believe you. Also that people care about you, whether you realize it or not.

5) If you could change one thing, what would it be? Why?
Taking more risks. Joining more clubs, going to more parties, basically just taking the opportunities offered to me. Except drugs. Don’t do drugs, kids.

6) If you could redo all your years in high school, would you?
Nope. Maybe junior year so my UW GPA would be a 4.0, but essentially no.

7) What was your favorite class?
A tie between APUSH and junior year english. Both teachers were phenomenal and I met so many awesome people in both classes.

8)Least favorite class?
Freshman year biology. I didn’t like the people, and the teacher was terrible. I ended both semesters with over 100% but I didn’t learn a thing.

9) How did you manage your time in high school?
Not well, I must say. I knew that I should have put homework first, but somehow I always got distracted. Procrastination…

10) What was your favorite thing about high school?
Model UN, our school and the people in it. And the fun stuff, too.

11) Least favorite?
Science, our principal, and how competitive we can get at times. Also school dances that aren’t formal or prom are pretty gross.

12) Rate your high school experience (socially) from 1-10.
Hmm, that’s hard to say. Probably an 8. Senior year is gonna be awesome.

13) Rate your high school experience (academically) from 1-10.
A 7, give or take. I wish I had challenged myself more in freshman year, but I didn’t know because the district I moved from was pretty ghetto and no one tried in school. So I’m glad that my high school made me realize that academics was important  Also junior year grades were bad. But everything else was dandy.
