I would definitely read "The Romance of Three Kingdoms" and "One Up On Wall Street". I'm still planning to read more books.

One... two? Maybe. I used to read a lot, then kinda got out of it. I would like to get back in, starting with a list of commonly banned books. I'd like to start with 1984, The Satanic Verses, and Catcher in the Rye.

Whatever I come across, I suppose. I don't really have anything specific I want to read.

maybe one, maybe two, i want to read like one hundred, but two is realistic...

At least 5; probably all from college board's list of recommended books for college bound students...

Well I'm basically stuck studying for SAT/ACT the whole summer when I'm not doing AP homework or working on my college essays. I doubt I'll read anything for pleasure this summer.

I'm hoping for 0. But it's an unrealistic goal because of AP homework.

^haha.. same

^^ it is shame to say that, but i was also hoping for 0! i have to read the book which every Cornellian has to read!

I'm planning on reading 9 books between now and the end of summer. I have 5 books that are piled up next to my bed, and I also have to read 4 summer reading books for Brit. Lit. next year.

Some of the books I will be reading:
Shake Hands with the Devil: Humanity's Failure in Rwanda
The World Without Us
Beowulf
The Lost Scriptures
Six Great Dialogues: Apology, Crito, Phaedo, Phaedrus, Symposium, and the Republic by Plato
(I don't know my summer reading list yet or I would type them here, but I believe it includes some Shakespeare.)

Knowing me, however, I probably won't get through all of them. I'm giving it my best shot though so hopefully I can get through as many as possible.

if i had the time, i would LOVE to read 1 book in 2-3 days all through out summer.

as you can see, im an aspiring eng. lit. major.

I want to read at least these 5 books (that I got for Yule and haven't been able to touch!!)

-2012.
-The Message of the Sphinx.
-Fingerprints of the Gods.
-The Mars Mystery.
-Edgar Cayce's Atlantis.

Plus, I want to finish my latin text book =].
What can I say? I have no required reading for once and I like ancient civilizations =].

Oh yeah, and I'll be in the car alot this summer so this is a realistic goal.

goddamn i have to read

the iliad
Some other book on greek mythology
3 other books for my senior reading project

So, that's like 2000 pages and essays on all...just for one class!

I'm going to Arkansas Governor's School, which is at Hendrix College. We will have full access to the library there, so I think I'll be combing the aisles there.

However, I will take a few with me:

Sister Carrie
The Castle
The Late George Apley
Light in August
Go Down, Moses

Anything from the summer reading list, which probably will include 3 or 4 books. Also, probably 3 or 4 more books for fun (but I would like to read more books for fun).

You guys are right, reading 2-3 books is enough, I forgot I also have to study for SAT, which means I would probably do 4-5 workbooks.

I'm planning on reading about 6 books:
Last of the Mohicans
Grapes of Wrath
We
Utopia
Farewell to arms
The Sane Society
(and start reading,...) War and Peace
/pleasure reading

Apart from this, probably a bunch of AP reading...and my college essay,.. grrr

I'm planning on around 30 books. There's a good chance I'll actually do it also.

I'm planning on reading around 15. I'm attending lots of camps and such, so I won't have all the time to read this year.

Avoid Boring People: Lessons from a Life in Science
Fat Envelope Frenzy
Snow Crash
(probably a few more)

I think there might be few books on the AP Lit reading list that I may have to read.
