Princeton is giving me about $2,000 more in financial aid than Dartmouth. Can I possibly get Dartmouth to match that aid?

You can appeal. Anyone can appeal, whether they have larger awards from other schools or not.

and the basis of the appeal can be … Dartmouth is my first choice but I got a better financial aid package from Princeton would Dartmouth please consider matching it?

^^not quite the correct wording, since officially D will not match. The appeal is ‘D is my first choice, but other colleges are more affordable…’ hint-hint

In your admissions, stuff is a Yellow (i think) form that you can fill out to request a financial review. They even state in their paperwork that you can (Fax) them your FA package from another school.

You can put in your reasons for the financial review which can be as simple as “Thank you for your generous financial aid package. Dartmouth is my first choice and I would love to attend. However at this time, Princeton is a more financially feasible option for our family. (add some reasons youare asking for the review or any other extenuating cuircumstances) I attached, please find a copy of my financial aid offer from Princeton. Thank you for your consideration”.

I have appealed my financial aid every year, and every year someone in their office has sat down with me and figured out how to adjust my aid package to make Dartmouth affordable. When I went to dimensions, I stopped in at the financial aid office on the way out, sat down with someone, explained extenuating circumstances/why my EFC was in fact expecting my family to use money to pay that it doesn’t actually have access to, and walked out with about 10,000 more in grant aid. They’re super helpful, and they do a great job staying in touch every step of the process.

Thank you everyone! I will do that sybbie719. =)
