What if I don't play any sport?

IS it going to hurt my chance?

Depends, if you really don’t have any ECs then yes it will hurt. If you don’t really have much ECs where you are involved with others (such as team working), yes. If you have a whole bunch of good ECs (and not ones like random clubs and random volunteering here and there) then it won’t really affect your chances. Overall, it depends on your other ECs, if your other ECs are really strong, it can make up, if your other ECs are weak, then no.
However, sports gives you a big boost in some circumstances. If you were captain for two years then it shows you have great leadership. If your team goes to the states finals, it reveals that you are good at teamwork. If you become all state/all American then you probably might have a chance to be recruited.

I just don’t know. I feel extremely uncooridnated because I haven’t played sport frequently when I was younger. I’m 6 degree short sighted. I have taken up tennis for 6 months yet severely got beaten off. I practice nearly everyday, but the improvement is slow and I’m dead with fast balls. I don’t have money to take private class as my family’s income is extremely low ( mom & dad vissibly don’t work). So yeah, I don’t know whether I should quit tennis. I’m going to be a sophomore this fall and I’m 17.

^
What?!? How are you a 17 year old Sophomore?..

As long as you have other ECs; you will be fine.

I’m an immigrant, first generation college. I came to the States last September and have to start over in 9th grade, whereas I should be in 12th grade at home now

forgot to mention I’m an Asian ( does it make any difference if I don’t check the box) and I want to play tennis

If you love tennis, there’s no reason to quit, right? Don’t tell me you’re playing tennis solely for admission chances…

i don’t like when people use the term ‘sport’ loosely

in my high school, a sport is a real sport, and you can be expected to commit at least 4 hours a day in season and 2 hours a day off season to the sport. that doesn’t promise that you’ll be any good, and you could do that and still be towards the middle of the group

however, other towns play ‘sports’ which is basically showing up at the field, goofing off for half an hour, playing for about 2 hours, and then going home. minimal effort, no training offseason

so it’s up to you whether or not you drop it, but if you’re not very good, it may look like you’re padding

Sports and instruments don’t matter at all if you demonstrate another passion(s).

Yup! My coach is terrible. I’ve been trying to get group sessions, but the coaches were not up to par.
Yes I don’t have any reason not to play except for talent. Isn’t it the most important one?

You don’t need a sport!!!

Honestly, don’t play then. Why do something you don’t love and don’t have to do? I mean move onto something that you love to do.

You have to be doing some sport! Anything! No? Casual tennis, b-ball player…

You’ll be fine anyway (I think/hope)!

To stay healthy and be fit? yes you should

Is it required for college? no
