What if my teacher mentions a subject that is different from my intended major in my rec letter?

So I got a rec letter from a humanities teacher and she used a resume/information from an internship program I took that she runs where I said I wanted to do CS. However, I have since switched, and I am now applying for finance. Would the rec letter be bad if she talks about CS and maybe how some of my ECs tie into CS in the rec letter while I am applying for finance/business? My other rec is from a STEM teacher so is asking another STEM teacher for a third rec (because I don’t really know any other humanities teachers that well) to replace the humanities rec something I should consider? Is it ok to talk to the teacher to see if she potentially wrote about CS in the rec letter? Any advice would be appreciated.

Talk to your teacher.

Is ok to talk about the content of the rec letter in that way? Since it seems you’re not really supposed to talk about the content of the letter in general.

You should give your teachers a resume or something similar. Also talk to them about what your major plans are and what colleges you are applying to. You shouldn’t talk to them about the actual content of the letters.

Actually…our students had to sign a form saying they would never see their LOR. Did you have to do so?

I guess I should have made it more clear, my bad. She has already submitted the rec letter though it seems I can remove the rec letters in Common App. And yes, I had to waive my rights as to seeing the rec letters. That’s kind of why I’m not sure if I should talk to her about this.

If you waived your rights to see…how do you know what it says?

She told me she based the rec letter off of the resume I used in the internship program I did with her where I did CS. I’m not 100% sure if she mentioned CS in the rec letter, but there’s a good chance (please let me know if it’s a thing for most teachers to mention major or if it’s a teacher to teacher thing), and I don’t know how bad that might be since I’m applying finance/business.

Go and talk to the teacher.

Is that ok even if it potentially involves talking about the content of the rec?

Maybe ask your guidance counselor. I believe they can see the letters. Just tell the GC that you are hopeful that the teacher didn’t mention CS as a major because you aren’t sure you are heading in that direction.
