<p>I would like to know answer for this question, thought it might look ridiculous. There is no word counter for the MIT essay. What if the length of the essay is far more than the limit.</p>

<p>It doesn’t look good. A few words-ten or twenty at most-isn’t awful, but a reader may grow annoyed if you write 500 words for a 250 word prompt</p>
