What if you get a C in a class that you want to major in in the future? Please chance me too!

Last year, my junior year, I got a C both semesters in AP chemistry. Since that was an AP class, the lab based part of it counted also. Essentially, the second semester grade got counted twice. So I got a C both semesters, which means I got 3 C’s total. I want to major in either chemical, environmental, or mechanical engineering but now I don’t think I’d have a chance for chemical. I have good grades in math and physics.
Alg 1 Pre-AP: A/A
Geometry Pre-AP: B/A
Alg 2 Pre-AP: A/A
Precal Pre-AP: A/A
Calc AB AP: B/B
Physics 1 Pre-AP: B/A
Chemistry Pre-AP: B/B
Chemistry AP: C/C/C
SAT 1 Math: 800
ACT Math: 36

Would I still have a shot at getting into Texas A&M, UT Austin, UT Dallas, Baylor, Purdue, Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon for engineering, especially chemical (first choice)?

GPA: 3.57/4.0 (UW)
GPA: 5.41/6.0 (W)
SAT: 690 R, 700 W, 800 M (2190)
ACT: 35 R, 36 M, 30 S, 29 W (33)
Rank: top 20%
Recs: great
Essays: assuming they’re great
ECs: Debate, DECA, Volleyball (if I make the team), Academic Decathlon
Community Service: will have over 100 hours
Special: I am an MC

The thing is, my grades used to be pretty great. My rank dropped by 9% (54 people) junior year. I was diagnosed with severe anemia, especially in regards to iron. For anyone who doesn’t know, iron deficiency symptoms include decreased performance, sleepiness and fatigue, poor concentration, and moodiness or irritability. I don’t know if I can include that anywhere within my application other than my essay… I really don’t want to write a special circumstance essay on this because it might look like I’m trying to make excuses, which I’m not. Where can I put that on my application? Do I have to send in documentation to prove that? Will it make a difference?

Please chance me! I love chemistry but I just messed up my junior year and I realize that its in the past now and I can’t change it and I need to move on.

Have your GC cover in his her letter. Including the explanation in your essay sounds a bit too defensive. Can you retake the class ? If not move on

@sgopal2 I cant retake this class because I did pass both semesters with a 78…
