would being a pre-med major look better to med schools, showining my dedication to science, or would another degree be better? Would a non-science degree show i would be a "well rounded" dr.? I want to go pre-med to get the experiance but if you dont get accepted to med-school, a pre-med deree is basically useless(or so i have heard). I can just take the required science classes for pre-med. I ultimately want to become a neurologist and i LOVE history.oh im going to be a senior this year. any help will be appreciated.

From one of the FAQ's,

What you major in is pretty much up to you. Medical school adcoms don't want to admit an entire class of biochem majors; indeed the emphasis today is all about people with an interest in helping people, so humanities majors may be just what the doctor ordered! In addition, that opens the door for folks who have been out of college for a few years and have shown a history of public service.
That notwithstanding, you will still have to complete the pre-med "core" of 8 semesters of science at a pre-med level (general, intro courses for non science majors will not do), as well as a little math.

Major doesn't really matter as long as you take the pre-requisites.. So if you like history, major in it as it will be the only time in life when you can do so :P

DO NOT major in pre-med. It's ridiculous that schools even have that as a major. To be admitted to med school, there's a group of required courses that all applicants need to take: general chemistry, organic chem, bio, etc. That's all the "pre-med experience" you need as far as classes go.

Beyond those requirements, major in whatever you want. If you love history, chances are you'll enjoy a history major and do well.
