What is a good 10 inch tablet for reading textbooks and preferably outdoors (good viewing angles)...

[If a 7 inch tablet is good enough for reading textbooks, please say so.]

Budget: After shipping/tax, etc $380
Camera: not mandatory, fine w/o it.
Weight: don't care
Storage: 16 GB (if it's 8 gigs only, still post it so I can check it out)

Usage:
1. reading textbooks (indoors(more)/outdoors(little))
2. testing apps (plan to make apps and test them on a tablet)
3. very light and rare gaming (for those really boring moments)
4. quick internet browsing to quickly look something up

I don't plan on using it's "bluetooth" feature so it can be excluded or disabled.
I don't plan on using it as a music player.

I don't care if it doesn't have an HDMI port of any kind.

Thanks!! :D

plz do not suggest the Lenovo Ideapad K1. I don't like it's design...

Kindle Fire

But get an iPad if possible though they are above your budget.

I test-drove a 7" tablet at the store and I don’t think it’s a good size for reading PDFs, which is mostly what I read. If you can get the textbooks through an app like Kindle or Nook, the books are sized to your screen, so they should be fine if they are not diagram heavy.

I think the Kindle Fire will be enough for your needs - you really don’t need 8 GB if all you are doing is reading. You could also try the Barnes & Noble Nook, but I think the Kindle’s web browser is better (not sure because I don’t have either). Amazon also has more books and they tend to be cheaper.

I personally own and am very happy with a Nook color. However, there’s a fact I was only made aware of very recently which would almost certainly be a dealbreaker for you (and that I wish I’d have known before getting one!):

From the Barnes and Noble website:
“Can I use my NOOK or iPhone to read digital textbooks?
No, you cannot use your NOOK or mobile devices to read your eTextbooks. Textbooks are complex and usually graphic-intensive ? they do not display well on small screens. However, if you have purchased NOOKbooks (e.g. Moby Dick, Pride & Prejudice, etc) that are predominantly text, those are supported on NOOK and mobile devices, in addition to NOOK Study.”

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (if you can get the extra money) is good, especially for developing apps. I read all the time on it, and I think it could serve you well.

The iPad is the only GOOD 10 inch tablet. The kindle fire is pretty good if you solely want to consume content but since you’re planning on making apps, the iPad is a better bet if only because of its superior developer community and ecosystem.
