What is a "good" gpa for Communication-related majors (for grad school)?

I'm currently a freshman at Penn State and I am always keeping graduate school in mind, so it's really important to keep my gpa up high. I'm likely going to try and get into the workforce for a few years after graduation and return to grad school if I want to ever to teach or get into academic research. I'm currently an Advertising major and I might be pairing that with either Econ or Sociology. I have a 3.73 gpa for fall and I will be getting roughly the same or higher for Spring. Would a 3.7+ gpa upon graduation, along with good GRE score (1200+), experience and letters of recommendation be good for schools like Northwestern, BU, or USC for grad in Communication?

Also, if I keep up my gpa, I might join a 5-year program and leave with my Master's. Is this a good idea? I know people tell me not to worry because it's too early, but I like to plan way ahead of time so I wont screw myself over in the end.
