Next year as a Junior I will be taking math analysis but I want to skip taking math analysis. Is there any good website to do this?
Why skip?
To advance myself? It looks better to colleges.
Take it at your HS. Focus on improving your HS performance not on skipping ahead in classes.
If you take math analysis (precalculus) in 11th grade, you will take calculus in 12th grade, which is advanced compared to the normal math progression in US high schools. No US university requires math more advanced than that for admission or any major.
Yes I know but I really want to take math analysis over summer so I can take Calculus in my Junior year and Senior year. Everybody has their interests…
Talk to your Guidance Counselor. You will need school credit/proof that you know the material for YOUR high school. They should know what courses they will accept.
Some very experienced people here have given you advice…we agree that getting to Calculus by Senior year is worth doubling up on math/taking a summer course…but their experience has shown that anything further than that is not necessary for college admissions.
I hate the emphasis on skipping through the basics to get to more advanced math courses.
The reason you typically take Precalc for a whole year is to prepare you for Calc. Rushing the preparation is setting yourself up for trouble down the road.
IMO you are focusing entirely on the wrong things. In another thread http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/2145166-not-doing-so-great-on-my-freshman-year.html#latest you said “I recently moved to a new highschool and have had a lot of personal problems that have been dragging me down, and as a result I am doing very poorly in my Freshman year in all CP classes…” In another post you said you flunked world history yet want to be moved into an honors class next year http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/2145290-is-it-possible-to-contact-your-supervisor-to-change-your-placements.html#latest
I would suggest that you STOP your focus on skipping levels of a class or getting into an honors class against your teacher recommendation and instead focus your attention on working on any personal issues you still have outstanding and doing as well as you can in school next year. Skipping a level of a class like math (or going through it online rather than in the classroom) that is sequential in nature or moving into an honors class after having failed the prior class (blaming the teacher is not OK) is not the answer. Use next year to show you can do the work at a high level and move on from there.
Ive asked them, but they dont “know any”. They simply asked for me to ask them whether so and so course is good to take or not, so they approve them and so far I havnt found any math analysis online courses.
@happy1 Im sorry, but I dont see the point of view of simply “moving on”. I have one opportunity and I want to use it and take math analysis. I dont mean to be rude but no one is really helping me here, and I am just simply trying to find a good online course to advance myself
Oh, we’re helping.
We’re simply not giving you the answers you want.
What we don’t want is a post a year from now saying you’re failing Calc I because you were totally unprepared to take it-- and that the reason was either poor guidance or a bad online course.
First think about why you really want to advance beyond the traditional math path your on without taking extra classes. If it is to gain brownie points for college admissions realistically taking an extra course to get ahead doesn’t do much especially if the course isn’t a good course or is too fast paced.
Look at colleges to see if they have a summer precalculus class and see if that covers the same thing as your math analysis class. See if a local high school has a summer math program. You may also want to find out the realistic expectations of a summer (condensed time) math class are. For example how many hours of homework per day/week is anticipated besides the class time. Do you need certain grades on assignments, tests, quizzes etc. Can you miss any days? Besides paying and taking a class another important factor to consider is what happens if you just don’t do well enough to move on?
What is math analysis? I think of this as a proof class.
4 days ago, you were a freshman. Now you are going to be a junior next year?
Don’t Fall into the Calculus Trap - https://artofproblemsolving.com/news/articles/avoid-the-calculus-trap
And if you ignore his advice, the website he founded has many very good and very rigorous math courses that are accredited by various organizations. You’d obviously need approval from your school to get credit/placement from them.

Be sure to try the pre-test. These are not easy courses.
Ok, thanks alot
Lol I took PreCalc over the summer of 8th grade and got a B+ this year in AP Calc so ya don’t do it
@squ1rrel During 8th grade? Thats not a good idea
Well obviously I know now…
But my teacher was especially hard…most people average a C/C- in the class and people in the past who have averaged this have gone on to top colleges and gotten easy As in math courses there. Only one person got an A in the class this year…I had the second highest grade lol
AP Exam was a piece of cake compared to his tests.
