What is a "good' score on SAT Subject Tests?

Okay, so when I first got my scores this morning (730 Lit, 740 Math IC, 750 US H) I was pretty happy - especially since I thought I BOMBED Lit. But then I sign on to CC and see that people are upset and disappointed over their 770s, 780s, and 790s and wondering if they should retake. Is it just the overachieving nature of CC kids, or are my scores really not that great? I know I would have been thrilled with those scores on the SAT I.

I know that a "good" or "great" SAT score varies by the school you are applying to. For a non-Ivy but still solid school like Georgetown or BC, what SAT II scores are considered "good"? And since I'm definitely not retaking, will SAT II scores less than a 790 or 800 hurt you in admissions?

anybody who is upset with a 780 is ridiculous. i only got one score over 780 and i was ecstatic. i'm not sure how colleges look at the SAT/how much it can hurt you but just looking at their median SATI scores, for BC and georgetown you look fine. i'm kinda on the same boat as you. mine were 790/750/670 math/spanish/history

There are a lot of very vocal overachievers on CC. Any score 700+ demonstrates a high level of competence.

my scores were almost identical (720/740/750, biology/math 2c/u.s. history) and i plan on applying to some competitive schools. Posting 3 scores over 700 in varied subjects is going to impress any college (especially b/c many only require 2). Also, sat IIs are a realtively small part of your application when compared to sat I and gpa
